I purchased two of them to serve as soap dishes. I'd suggest using it as a sponge holder rather than a soap dish. Soap sticks to the dish, forcing you to pick it up. Sponges, on the other hand, should be perfect for them.
I really like these soap dishes. They have a great appearance, but they are also extremely functional, for example: There is no mess because the soap dries. I went with the natural concrete color, which isn't a perfect match for my concrete vanity top, but it'll do!.
