Food can be served in the bowls. They can be microwaved and washed in the dishwasher. They are suitable for use with metal utensils. However, because of the uneven surfaces, the ridges and swirl on the bottom of the were not designed for food, and if you do use them for food, extra effort will be required to clean them. Also, eating with a spoon bumping along might not be the most enjoyable experience. Thank you, Jay. br>br>br>
Like J. With a space between the bottom of the puck and the bowl, Haton predicts a tight squeeze. You should be able to melt the soap in the bowl. A 3" wide x 1" thick puck can now fit inside with ease.
I'm guessing it's because it's pottery. Campbellpotterystore.com is a website dedicated to selling pottery made by Campbell. "It is food safe, and is thicker and heavier than fine china," according to com. It's not just for show; it's meant to be used and enjoyed every day. It can be washed in the dishwasher, baked in the oven, and microwaved."
Because they are made by hand, I expect slight variations. At its widest point, mine measures 4 3/16".

I rarely write reviews unless I feel strongly about something: either for the better or for the worse For a long time, I've been wet shaving. I'd been looking for a new, deeper lather bowl for a while (I was previously using a shallow horn bowl) when I came across this. This bowl was made entirely by hand in the United States of America! Not only that, but it was about the same price as Chinese mass-produced goods! I couldn't wait to use my new bowl after receiving it! So I warmed it up by filling it halfway with hot water and scrubbing it with soap using my Badger hair brush. Then it all came together like magic! I had thick, creamy goodness whipped up in the bowl and the brush in no time! The spiral ridge aids in the production of lather. I strongly advise anyone who uses mugs to get one of Jay's bowls. The bowl was VERY WELL PACKED in the box, with three or four layers of bubble wrap around it. Jay also included a handwritten thank you note, which was a nice touch!.
The regular size shaving bowl I ordered turned out to be surprisingly small, with an inside diameter of 3 3/4 inches and a depth of 1 7/8 inch, making it more akin to a mug than a bowl. So I went ahead and ordered the large size to see if I liked it more. br>br>I also thought the large bowl was excessively large. It was almost soup bowl size, with an inside diameter of 4 5/8 inches and a depth of 2 1/8 inches. br>br>I kept the regular size bowl and returned the larger size, and I haven't had any problems with it. I really like how it turned out, with a dark blue glaze swirled with medium blue and a few rust-red specks. It's a great product that's also reasonably priced for handcrafted pottery. br>br>This is a huge improvement over my Kermit the Frog cereal bowl.
It doesn't have the thickest sides, which could make it a little more fragile. However, the walls are extremely thin and the space is quite light. On the one hand, this makes it simple to heat up the actual bowl; on the other hand, mine slid off the counter into the sink and shattered after only three uses. I won't hold Jay responsible for the breakage, but my previous scuttle was much heavier and had thicker sides, and it lasted me 15 years. Of course, I paid three times as much, so I believe you must first decide what you want.
For the past two weeks, I've been using my new lather bowl. I absolutely adore it! I preheat the bowl by filling it halfway with hot water and waiting a minute. Place soap on the brush and swish it around for a couple of seconds. It has a thick, warm lather. After that, I use it on my face. This is how I shave the first time and then the second time. The most comfortable and enjoyable shave I've had in a long time. My beard is extremely thick and tuf. This ceramic bowl is superior to any of my previous bowls in terms of the interior surface design. (metal).
I was looking through a lot of shaving bowls when I came across this lovely blue one. It was exactly as shown on the website. It appeals to me. In hot water, it will float and keep your shaving soap warm. It will produce a good lather. It's also soothing to look at its lovely blue glaze. I might get another (in case I drop it, which is a distinct possibility). Jay of JaysClays is a fantastic ceramicist, and I'm glad I got this bowl from him!.
This shaving bowl is truly exceptional. The sides aren't perfectly round, but they do have small bumps on them that make it easier to hold the bowl with a wet hand, and it's big enough to work with. make a large amount of lather, but not so much that it's difficult to control. The bowl's rim curves inward slightly, and there's a shallow inner ridge that keeps the lather from splashing out while you work the brush. In the bottom of my bowl, there was a spiral ridge that helped keep the soap disc in place. The color ranges from a very pleasing deep cobalt blue to a dark sky blue, as you'd expect in a truly hand-made product. br>br>My bowl arrived well-packaged and cushioned, and it was shipped quickly. br>br>I'm confident you'll enjoy this attractive product as much as I do.
The swirl in the bowl's bottom aids in quickly creating a thick lather. And I don't mean slowly. You load your brush, and the lather just seems to explode after a few swirls. I wish I had this bowl when I was younger. The bristles on my Omega boar bristle brush are quite long, and despite the fact that this bowl isn't particularly small, my Omega is a little too big for it. My Perfecto badger hair brush is supposed to arrive tomorrow, and based on the reviews I've read, it should be ideal for my purposes. I highly recommend this bowl, and if something were to happen to mine, I would buy it again.
This will most likely sound similar to the majority of the other reviews, which is a good thing! Is it really $25 for a small bowl? Isn't it possible to just swish that brush around in a cup of coffee? Yes, you can, and it will most likely work in some way. If you swish that soap around in Jay's bowl, you'll get a thick, rich lather. Without exerting any effort. I usually lather directly on my face, but this is a much more effective method. This had been on my wish list for a while, and I'm glad I finally got around to ordering it. Jay, you did an excellent job!.
