Does this hardtack consist of flour, water, and salt?

There is palm oil and other additives in this product. The shelf-life of traditional hardtack is probably not even close to that of this product. After some research, my best guess, based on what I read, is that it probably has a shelf life of a few years, not longer In general, longest oils such as palm oil or those found in whole grains aren't considered to be This hardtack can be made for a long time with white flour, white sugar, salt, and water. A $12 bill
4/5

I'd like to purchase a bag of crumbs for . 00. As a product, it is very This is not meant to be a criticism of It is important, however, to exercise caution as the seller does not appear to take any precautions to ensure your order arrives as expected. I beg you, please don't say, "its crackers, they're fragile". Usually shipped to EVERY corner of Alaska, this is a very hardy cracker (made in Virginia) produced on a regular basis. Considering the price, I would think that $12 would be quite sufficient for the condition. In order to protect the item(s) valued at $00, the seller would take some steps to ensure that there is no (or very minimal) damage. It is at your own risk to buy.

This is the secret of Alaska
5/5

Known as the Alaskan Secret, Sailor Boy Pilot Bread is made with real Alaskan crab. Pilot bread is an essential item in the bush, with everyone having at least three boxes on hand You can find one in your home, one at the camp and another in your When it does go stale, just pop it in the oven for a minute to toast it up and you're good to go. It pairs well with both sweet and savory toppings, almost never goes stale and never gets sticky. The fact that you can buy this on amazon is amazing for an Alaskan who does not live in Alaska anymore Feeling at home in a truly familiar setting.

A waste of time and money
3/5

These two boxes are among those I purchased in the past two weeks. We purchased a box of these a few months ago out of curiosity to see what they were like. As a result of that, I ordered two more boxes of those crackers. With each cracker it was perfect. It was shocking to see that most of the crackers were broken when we opened that one. Besides being stale and having a soft crumb, they also looked old. The food was not dry or crunchy I didn't like the way they tasted. Immediately, the next box was opened and it contained the same contents The bread is stale and mashed. There were no holes in the outer or inner packaging so it's hard to understand how they ended up pulverized given their outer packaging wasn't crushed. The money we spent on two boxes of terrible crackers we cannot eat was a disappointment. In a simple product like this, it seems impossible that there could be such a lack of quality control.

I'm so happy! The final version is here
5/5

For almost 10 years, I have been trying to find these in the 48. Crackers that are strong and of good quality. Camping or backpacking is a breeze with this bag. I make microwave pizzas on them for my kids and they love them plain. Editing is necessary In Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, these can be found in certain shops, but they tend to be difficult to find elsewhere. In light of the fact that you are getting 2 LBS of these delivered to your home, the price isn't too bad. Buy saltines at your local grocery store if you need cheap regular crackers. I think the SBPB are serious, but not sure Sending messages - Turn around and put in This is yours A pocket-sized device In addition, it This will happen- The bread should not be crumble, but.

Contrary to what you might think, hardtack is not the same thing
4/5

Despite the price ($9), the product is good. I thought I'd give it a go since it was for 99 cents. Emergency situations or regular use do not require any special care. The ingredients in it, including palm oil and preservatives, do not make it hardtack, though. Although I couldn't find any solid information on the shelf life of hardtack, most sources said that it can be stored for a decade instead of a single digit number of years for hardtack. Unless you can find better information about long-term storage, do not plan to store this for long-term use in an emergency. In addition to being easier to use than hardtack, it is not as hard as a rock and does not have to be processed in some way to reduce the risk of.

The best bread crackers you can find
5/5

Aside from Mountain House, Future Essentials, Saratoga Farms and USGI MRE crackers, I have also tried Future Essentials. The Sailor Boy Brand are IMO the best. They're considerably larger than the other brands, and you can feel the baker's skill in every bite. They're pleasantly neutral with a thin, crisp topping - the perfect balance of flavor and texture. If you like, it's very much like snacking on an unsalted saltine In contrast to Mountain House or Saratoga Farms, it is not in the least bit sweet. It is also worth mentioning that at their regular price, they sell 2 lbs. There is a savings of more than half of the regular price of a 2 lb bag. The number 10 vacuum cleaner- Can that has been sealed. Among the downsides, of course, is that they are not likely to have anywhere near the 25 years of shelf life as canned varieties do. There's a good chance that they will last a lot longer than ordinary saltines at the grocery store (and I have saltines that are five+ years old and still edible) It may not be a bad idea to rotate them out earlier. This is a good one This is a highly recommended read.

We received our perfect pilot bread just in time
5/5

It has been more than ten years since we were able to find Sailor Boy Pilot Bread in the lower 48 states. Our efforts have been limited to making our own (like rocks) or buying Mountain House 10 cans (OK to use, but not as thick, tasty, or hard as SB). Our day was made when we saw Sailor Boy Pilot Bread once again available in the US. I'm being honest! These had been our main accommodation during 2 month long canoe expeditions in the Canadian subarctic Beyond the tree - A look at the Arctic (from California to Nevada in 3 months) and three months truck camping in SW Utah, SW Wyoming, Nevada, and Arizona. Having read a previous review where another customer had received what was described as a "bag of almost bread crumbs") I was somewhat anxious to place an order for 6 boxes (and to have to order 6 more soon). It was well packed so that it was easy to get to us. When I did the jiggle/shake test, it sounded okay Upon opening two boxes, I found them to be in perfect condition. As such, I think that another reviewer's poor experience with quality may have been an isolated occurrence, and he may have.

This is a great replacement for bread or crackers in storage! I saw this on a YT video describing how highly prized they are For a long time- You can buy food at these They are quite tasty, and I expect they will pair well with many of the foods I eat
5/5

There are modern versions of old fashioned hardtack, but these are much softer and more convenient The food is tasty and easy to prepare. They are easier to break, and have fewer crumbs than other crackers It's supposed to be able to store in extreme temperature conditions, so would be good for camps, campers, vehicles, boats, etc.

Try a package out, and if you want more - just ask. Bulk discounts are available when you buy them in large quantities. Take a look!.
