Well, I don't like to criticize a product, and perhaps the company isn't entirely to blame, but the packaging was flimsy, and the basil was not fresh when I received it twice from the same Fresh market. As a result, both the company and the Fresh market let me down. This is something I will never buy again. It's better for me to go out and look for basil in person to make sure it's still fresh! br> I believe basil spoils so quickly that stores are unable to keep track of the expiration date. Basil growers might want to invest in an airtight storage container to ensure that their product stays fresh.
I use a lot of fresh basil, but the options on Amazon Fresh have been disappointing thus far. What good is it to have your groceries delivered if you still have to go to the store for basil? br>When I saw that this basil had been added to the inventory, I was overjoyed. I'm familiar with the brand, and it's without a doubt the best basil available in supermarkets in New York City. It's not only fragrant and delicious, but it's also packaged by professionals who know what they're doing. The leaves are dry and never crushed, so they last a long time. br>The aroma of fresh basil filled my kitchen as soon as I opened the bag. Perfection in every way!.
Basil is good, but it's a waste of money. Basil is a low-cost crop to cultivate. If possible, grow your own in a pot.
I've bought these from FRESH before, but I'll be looking for something else because they only last one day, no matter how you treat them, which means they take a beating in transit to Amazon or to the end customer.
The majority of the leaves are fresh. I make a simple 5-ingredient recipe that is delicious. With it, make a quick pesto: In a Cuisinart, combine all of the basil, 1/3 cup walnuts, 1/3 cup olive oil, 3 tablespoons nutritional yeast, and 3 garlic cloves. Blend, and there you have it. Non-vegans will be blown away by how delicious this is. It's also extremely nutritious.
The packaging appears to be large in this photo, but it is actually quite small in person. So, for the money they sent, it's a little pricey. It's fine; I'll be more careful next time.
This basil is always of excellent quality, but it should be used within a day or two of purchase to avoid it turning brown. The leaves are delicate, and the flavor is great in pesto or as a chiffonade on top of pasta. Superior to the Fresh brand by a long shot.
It is always brown when it arrives. It looks rotten, but it feels and smells fresh. This does not appeal to me. A few pieces are slimy from time to time.
