Questions & Answers

Why do these have such a high "sugar" content?

FOR THE FACT THAT FRUITS CONTAIN NATURAL SUGARS. That is why fruit has a sweet flavor. br>This promotes seed dispersal by enticing various critters to eat the fruit, with the seeds passing right through the critter and ending up far away from the parent tree, along with a dollop of natural "fertilizer" from the critter.

Is there a 4 pound bag of figs in a paper box? Plastic packaging does not appeal to me. ?

This one appears to be packaged in resealable plastic. Even if they're packed in wax, the figs will stay moist. If you don't eat them right away, the lines boxes will dry out. I got some in a box (a 5-box), but it came with a plastic bag. I suppose you could just dump them into the box and throw away the plastic (to avoid suffocation), but 5 figs is a lot to eat before they dry out and become hard.

Is there any sulfer in these figs?

I'm not sure how things were in December 2018, but as of today, 15 January 2020, the only "additive" is potassium sorbate, which is derived from Sorbic Acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid. hydroxy fruit acid was discovered in the berries of the Mountain Ash tree, much like citric acid and malic acid were discovered in citrus fruits and apples, respectively.
- Sulfer and potassium are two different elements. It's not possible to swap them out.
- Sorbic acid in its potassium form is more stable and dissolves more easily in water. This allows for a light misting of the foods to be preserved, preserving them while reducing the amount of solution used.
- There has been some fearmongering about potassium sorbate causing "sickness." Because humans require some potassium in their diet (which is one of the reasons we're told bananas are healthy), it's unlikely that enough of these figs could be consumed to cause a potassium overdose, because a person who ate THAT MUCH **dried** fruit of any kind would experience some unpleasant and rather forceful intestinal effects, which would expel the majority of the potassium. In terms of the - Although sorbic *acid* can cause a skin rash in sensitive people, lemon juice, which contains a significant amount of citric acid, can also cause a rash. In fact, the alpha-gamma-gamma-gamma- Dilute hydroxy acids are used in dermatological lotions and other products to encourage the skin's top layer to peel off. Potassium salts of any of the alpha-amino acids, on the other hand, are toxic to humans. SALTS, not acids, are created by hydroxy acids.

This is a must-have item for me, but it appears to be scarce
4/5

For the fiber, I consume mission figs on a daily basis. I usually get them from Walmart, but they've been out for weeks. Nuts U was my source for these figs. by way of Amazon They're tasty, but some of them are a little dry and difficult to chew. It's fine because the date of expiration is June 2022. I placed a second 2-pound order. bag, and it was the last one in stock. I believe there is a scarcity because they are grown in California and may be out of season or a result of a Covid problem. When it becomes available, I will place another order.

the product's appearance; as your records show, I was always pleased with what I received
3/5

So, trying to keep a straight face, I ordered a different brand of figs than the one I had before. BIG MISTAKE: these don't resemble the ones I'm familiar with. I didn't want to send them back because I had already opened the package, but I wanted to let you know that I wasn't pleased.

I'm not pleased with myself
3/5

I'm not going to order any more of them. The majority of them aren't very good. I'm not sure if it's over-dried or not. They're as dry as paper inside.

The quality of the product was subpar
3/5

This is by far my favorite dried fig brand, but the most recent shipment I received contained a significantly higher number of dried out figs. They were all plump and juicy when I first saw them. Although I was disappointed, they were still of higher quality than other brands I had tried.

What could be better than figs that have been dried? I like it because it's healthy, tasty, portable, and it's a fruit I can eat. (Most raw fruits cause an allergic reaction in me. ) It was torturous waiting for it, and I devoured them with gusto!.

Figs that have been dried to perfection

These are delicious figs! They're not dry; instead, they're soft and flavorful, and I'm happy with my purchase.

Tiny fruit with a sour taste
3/5

Over-dried and small for a mission fig, this fig has a bad flavor.
