It depends on how much you mean when you say "a lot". It is noted on the label how much sugar is in the product. The pineapple is too sweet for my taste (I am an elderly person).

Don't overdo it with the candy. Bitter is not the right word. As you would normally receive in a grocery store, the chunks are larger than you would be used to. Look at the picture of a quarter compared to the size of this one. I'd say that it is at least twice the size. These pineapple chunks are used in trail mix, so they would be ideal if they were half the size. However, these are really delicious and I prefer them to store bought stuff from the supermarket. Since I add these to my trail mix in half, I just cut them in half.
