Sulfur dioxide is commonly used as a preservative in dried fruit to keep bacteria and mold from colonizing the drying process. It also aids in the preservation of the fruit's natural color, which darkens if not treated properly, similar to how an apple slice darkens when exposed to air. When sulfur dioxide is used in excess, it can leave a faint rotten egg odor, but when I opened the package of dried pears, there was no trace of sulfur dioxide. The fruit was sweet and chewy, and it was a pleasure to eat. I enjoy combining plain non-alcoholic beverages with mine. Allow Greek yoghurt to soak up water and thicken in the refrigerator for several hours.

I think these are the best dried pears I've ever had. It's hard to find dried fruit with this good of flavor and texture that doesn't have any added sugar.
The flavor is delicious, and the texture is moist and easy to chew.
These appear to be delicious, but when I cut open the bag, I was confronted with a strong sulfur odor. They were so disgusting that I couldn't bring myself to eat them. The smell persisted even after I left the bag open for a day. I'm not going to be able to eat these because the sulfur smell makes me sick. That's a steep learning curve, and I'm not going to buy from this company again.
It comes in a sealed container to keep the air out. The texture is pleasant to the touch. It's not chewy at all. People like it in my house because it has a lot of fiber.
The smell of pears wafted out of the bag as soon as I opened it. I enjoy chopping up dried pears and mixing them with plain non-dairy yogurt. Allow the mixture to sit in the refrigerator for a few days after adding the Greek yoghurt. The water is absorbed by the dried pears, resulting in a thick Greek yoghurt. It's quite tasty, and the sweetness of the pears means there's no need for sugar.
For the sake of value, the amount could have been higher.
"Sweet" was the only flavor I detected. The flavor of a pear Jelly Belly was what I was hoping for. However, regardless of who makes them, pear products do not appear to have that flavor.
These dried pears are one of my favorites. They're sugar-free and have a pleasant sweetness on their own. It has a pleasant texture as well. Not too wet and gummy, but also not too dry and shriveled! Give these pears a try if you're tired of dried apricots and want a healthier alternative to sugary trail mixes.
