For one thing, I'm not a big fan of figs It has to do with texture. It had been my goal to find foods that are rich in nutrients, particularly A dried fig seemed to be the perfect choice. In the beginning, I was somewhat put off by this product. A moldy look was on their faces. However, on reading the label, it states that "sugaring" is only a result of drying, and does not actually occur on the outside of the product. What a relief! There is a taste of sweetness to these, and they are not overly chewy or moist. They seem to be perfectly dried. In spite of the fact that figs are still not my favorite dried fruit, I will continue to consume them for the nutritional benefits they provide. In the past, I have also tried dried apricots from the same brand and was pleased with them.
I've ordered these figs five times (so far), and I'm planning to keep buying These are a sweet treat I eat with no problem despite having a sensitive stomach. In rare cases, I will run across a few vegetables that are too dry, but more often than not they are soft, sweet, and moist. And, they are affordable! Jansal figs are higher quality and available at a lower price at the local SaveMart. SunMaid figs at SaveMart are half the price, but you only get 4 ounces vs 16 ounces - and you get way more. Since we did not have figs growing up in our family, I was delighted to discover them later in life. And as someone who is approaching retirement, I appreciate the added benefit fiber provides for an aging digestive system.
The seals are still intact and they say they are good for a long time. In the picture, the figs don't look anything like what I bought. I've never bought figs before so I don't know if they're good to eat. The back states that a natural aging process called sugaring can occur, and the smell is fine, so here's hoping they are fine, right?.
My initial experience with this product was very happy, so happy that I began a subscription service to it. But after 12 months, at least one quarter of the shipments arrived moldy, extremely dry (I know figs are supposed to be dry) and the box was damaged twice. It was hard to tell if the figs were upright in the I think it's a shame because I'm really fond of the way this relationship started but it turns out to be short-lived like so many others.
It was as if they had a brown film on them. I thought they were moldy. This film comes from figs and is a natural sugar, which is created when the figs are crushed. My first attempt to try one came after trying to decide whether I should try it. There seem to be so many great things to say about this sweet and delicious fig sugar, don't worry about the brown film. You'll love it!.
This product has been purchased on my Sub and Save account four times, I believe. It was good to get the first two packs. On the outside of the figs of the third pack, there was a whitish film. It did not alter the taste, but did not appeal to the palate. So I cut up the strawberries and put them in my oatmeal while it cooked. (I don't like wasting things) The fourth and final pack arrived and they were so hard and dehydrated that they could not be chewed. As a result, I will rehydrate them in boiling water again, but I will not be ordering more.
There are some dry figs, but with a little honey and a bit of wine, they can be rehydrated. I love that most of the figs are succulent and rich in flavor. The only complaint I have is that by the time the figs reach me, the packaging has been crushed and some of the figs have spilled out.
This is what I wrote about the first container I bought (5 stars). I did not like the second one I got since it was extremely chewy and tasteless It looked like the figs had been left out for too long at the wrong temperature or had been dried up for too long. tried them again and I must have been mistaken because they were just as tasty and chewy as they were the first time! In that case, I have raised their score from two You'll love it!.
