This product, the original one for meat, has been a favorite of mine since the late 1970s when I lived for a time in Gibraltar (yes, the You may be able to get it in the US, although I'm on the east coast, which makes me unsure whether you'd come across it in the midwest or further afield. You can find it online, of course. It was not all that long ago that I discovered the chicken one and have used it ever since. I was therefore delighted to find it on Amazon at such a good price. Mix it with hot water to make a nice gravy, delicious over breaded chicken cutlets or fried chicken, or add it to an existing gravy or sauce for a delectable flavor that is not too salty or laden with MSG. My favorite way to prepare the Bisto is to start with a sauce I make to make the inside of a chicken pie, which is butter and flour with chicken broth or soup. Put the chicken in a baking dish, pan or casserole dish, along with potatoes, onions or leeks, and mushrooms. Bake for an hour and you've got a scrumptious, easy meal! Get a taste of Bisto by trying the different flavors available. You can't live without this staple in your pantry.
I live in the US so I have to search a bit to find this product, but it's worth it. Specifically, I'm a big fan of Bisto Chicken Gravy Flavored Granules. Making this gravy is super easy and could not be more delicious. It is flavorful and no muss no fuss. I find this combination of not too salty and a good body with no gloppy or runny consistency to be appropriate - not overly salty and not too runny. It worked out just fine with only a few minor problems. In the colder months, when the oven gets fired up a lot for roast chicken and the potatoes on the side crave some gravy to accompany them, this is an essential pantry staple. For a country where gravy is put on and into literally everything, knowing that this is their "go to" brand of gravy granules is all that needs to be said. The ingredients in this gravy aren't even all that bad for you, so it really makes for a tasty gravy! Apparently it goes well with my vanilla ice cream too, so I'm considering trying it. I wasn't able to find Chicken Ahh Bisto in any of our local supermarkets, so finding it on Amazon was very appreciated. Having used it for many years, I know how great it is to add flavor to favorite dishes and to make gravy. Additionally, it does not have an unreasonably high sodium content.
This ingredient is what I use to thicken and make gravy all the time.
At Thanksgiving, I used it for thickening my turkey gravy, and it was a success. Moreover, it adds a nice flavor to the beverage, and I will definitely purchase it again.
