The product has been used by us now for a few weeks and I am very pleased with it. Almost none of the capers are broken, and the flavor of the capers is delicious In the jar, all the capers are whole. contains just the right amount of salt and vinegar base, but not too much salt or too much vinegar. Costco has been carrying that product in a slightly smaller jar for 10 years, but now they do not carry it. In any event, this is a more expensive and better quality product.
It's rare for me to have cloudy liquid or foreign material in the jars since I use a lot of capers. I haven't opened the jars, but I noticed some of the capers were smashed and others were splitting. My chances of eating these are nonexistent as I'm not going to risk it. I found the product to be very low in quality and that it contained suspicious foreign bodies.
It is always a problem for me to find capers when I am running out of them. The store where I usually shop does not carry capers so, in order to replenish my pantry, I would have to travel far. Finally, I decided to get smart and ordered this product from Amazon. I couldn't be happier with it! The capers are not only flavorful and nice in size, but the jar is huge! A small amount of capers in a tiny container at a high price is not appealing to me when I'm making salads. I like to use enough capers to actually change the flavor. Costco stopped carrying jars of this size (and possibly this brand) after I had been buying them there for years. It's been less than two months since I received the jar, and half of it has already been used up. It is a house that loves them everywhere they go. Cooking Mediterranean cuisine is one of the things I do a lot. They are great! A few were smashed here and there, but I am not complaining they taste great and I plan to buy another bottle when this one runs out. There is no comparison between these and the ones I can get from the supermarket in tiny bottles that have only enough for one or two recipes. I had two jars and they are as tasty. I can only guess that the bottle was poorly packaged, but Amazon stepped in promptly to address it. My experience with these capers has been the best so far. The number of capers in this rather large jar is unknown to me, but there must be a lot of them! Besides using them in salads, I use them for many other recipes as well. There's something I particularly like about the jar such as the opening makes it an easy task to get the capers or juice out, unlike most of the tiny jars on the market. Buying again and again will be a regular occurrence for me.
