Questions & Answers
Carol, thank you for asking such an interesting question. We recommend soaking the saffron threads for 5 minutes in a small amount (1 TBSP) of warm water - This allows the flavors, aromas, and colors to fully develop. Then, to whatever you're cooking, add the saffron/water mixture. Whether it's rice, a cream sauce, tea, or something else entirely! We recommend 6 to 8 cups of uncooked rice for 1 cup of uncooked rice. There are eight threads total.
Our saffron is grown entirely organically by our farmers. Unfortunately, organic certification in Afghanistan is currently prohibitively expensive for us.br>Because the crocus flower that produces saffron blooms for such a short time before harvest, pesticides are not required.
Rumi was born in Afghanistan, and we wanted to highlight the country's positive aspects, such as the world's most famous poet and philosopher, as well as the best saffron in the world. His philosophy on people's interconnectedness is also something we admire.
Only a few should be required - Starting with four to five threads is a good place to start. If you want a stronger flavor, just a few more will suffice.

Normally, I refrain from writing product reviews. However, I feel compelled to write these reviews in this case. As you may know, saffron is pricey; in particular, Rumi Spice Saffron brands are more expensive than other brands. This brand appealed to me because it is committed to the empowerment of Afghan women. The quality is excellent, but when receiving your saffron, double-check the net weight. I spent around 140 dollars on a 1 oz container. I video taped the weight in when the saffron arrived because I read online that the net weight could be a problem. It's true once you've weighed in. Instead of 1 oz of net weight, the true net weight is 0 oz. 80 oz. Normally, the value is 0. There's no problem with 20 oz. But take a look at 0. 20 of 140 is 20 of 20 is 20 of 20 is 20 00, which is the same as $28. I'd be willing to pay a total of 168 dollars. If the net weight is accurate, it will cost you $00 for a 1 oz. When I paid 140, however, I felt cheated. 00 for 0. When it's advertised as a 1 oz. , it's actually 80 oz. I contacted Amazon and Rumi Spice, who both assured me that they would make up for the shortfall. Please weigh your Rumi Spice Saffron purchase for all past and future Rumi Spice Saffron buyers. Here's a video showing how I did it (net weight refers to the weight of the item without packaging).
Despite the fact that this was the driving force behind my initial purchase, these saffron threads would not have received four stars from me unless they were excellent. And they are, despite the fact that they lack the flavor of the previous brand I used. Of course, saffron has a delicate flavor that can easily be overshadowed in many dishes. It goes well with lobster, in my opinion. fish that is light; rice, especially risotto pasta with butter or cream, and simple pasta To bring out the flavor of the saffron, crush it before using it in a recipe.

The quality was excellent, but the quantity was limited. It weighed 22 grams, or 0. 001 ounces. 8oz. Given the price of saffron, this is a significant under-estimate. fill. I reached out to both Amazon and Rumi. Amazon promptly sent me a replacement tin (which was also defective). filled). Rumi eventually responded and offered to send me the difference if I could prove that I had purchased it from Amazon. I declined because Amazon had already taken care of it, but please inform me that the short-fill issue has been resolved. They claimed to have resolved the situation today. The saffron, by the way, is incredible. Aroma and color are both very strong.
You can read the entire story on their website, and I'm thrilled that Amazon now sells it. br>PHYSICAL ADVANTAGES (possibly): br>I keep this at my desk so that when my stress levels rise, I can make saffron tea. I eat three pieces of RUMI Saffron with honey and immediately feel much better. I'm not sure if it actually causes a chemical change or if it's just a placebo effect, but either way it works.
This item arrived in a large spice jar with a tiny plastic bag containing only a small amount of saffron, insufficient to make one batch of rice; I'm disappointed because I can't return it. I'm not going to buy this product again because it was a waste of money and time for me. It is strongly advised that you do not buy it.
With a small amount, you get a lot of flavor. The majority of people do not realize how simple it is to make saffron tea. Add a pinch of saffron to a small bottle of bottled water; Begin with the basics; Just a smidgeon of a pinch Shake the bottle well before placing it in the refrigerator for the night. The color shift from clear to yellow will be noticeable. If it turns dark yellow, divide it into two bottles because you may have used too much Saffron. You'll be as happy as I am once you've found your preference. It gets better as it steeps longer!.
I hadn't used Saffron in a long time, so I had to order it when I saw it in a small jar. It arrived quickly and was packaged in such a way that the jar arrived in perfect condition. It was used in a soup, and it added a delicious flavor that the soup lacked. I appreciate how well the jar seals to keep the saffron fresh. I'd buy from them again.
Aroma and flavor- Saffron is a lovely color. Because of other reviews about weight, I only purchased a small amount as a test (1/2 gram). br>br>I have a milligram scale in my possession. I'm on a low-salt diet and use a salt cellar to cook and season my food. lol. It helps me remember that "a pinch this size equals x milligrams of salt. " The scale appears to be fairly accurate. The weight was off by 6% percentage percentage percentage percent On the one hand, the difference could easily be explained if the moisture content of the product has changed since it was first packaged. And we're talking about pennies. On the other hand, if I were purchasing a larger quantity, such as an ounce, the price would be higher. That amounts to ten dollars. br>br>My more serious issue is with the. 47 of the grams I received were broken down pieces and powder rather than threads. It's not a big deal because the taste/scent is excellent, but it does make determining how much saffron to use in different recipes a little more difficult. (e. I used about 20 threads the first time I did it. How much powder and broken pieces do you need to make the recipe again? )br>br>As a result. Is it something I would purchase again? Probably. The flavor was fantastic, and I have to assume that not everyone is getting saffron powder instead of saffron, because if they were, the reviews would reflect it. lol. In addition, I admire what they're doing in terms of corporate social responsibility. YMMV.
