There was no chemical odor that I detected. Some spices have a strong aroma. Inside the bottle, there was a sealed plastic baggie with the one I got.
Afghanistan was the source for these.

Very deceiving. Although the jar is large, the amount of saffron inside is small. It's wrapped in paper before being stuffed into the jar to give the impression that you're getting a good deal. In addition, the quality is poor. The water only turned a light yellow color, so I'm guessing they're dyed. Not happy.
It depicts a large bottle, and you receive a large bottle with a small pouch containing half a teaspoon of safron inside. br>Absolutely deceptive and deceptive advertising!.
They should switch to a different type of packaging because the plastic bag smells terrible.
I enjoy making paella, but it can be difficult to find saffron at a reasonable price in my area. It is not available in all stores. It was a pleasant surprise to learn that I could order it online and be assured that I was getting a good spice at a reasonable price.
1 star for excessive packaging waste; At the very least, it is eco-friendly. br>Because it is the most expensive spice, it is only expected to be available in limited quantities. Saffron of excellent quality. However, the bottle is extremely deceiving in terms of the quantity.
It's not even close to being worth it. Purchase is not recommended. You'll pay the price later.
Apart from the fact that it is pricey, I adore this spice. This company and the spice are two of my favorite things in the world. I'm going to buy more.
When I use these, I soak one saffron thread in a couple of Tablespoons of hot water for about 15 minutes before using it.
