Adding the Anise Star whole to my home made sauerkraut mixture was a great idea. Choosing these products was due to their Certified USDA Organic status, Gluten Free nature, and No added artificial ingredients The product is GMO-free, vegan, and kosher. I use the pieces in my sauerkraut/kimchi as they add a very good flavor to the mix. They taste like licorice and have a very strong scent. The broths they suggest using this in have not been used in my broth yet, but I intend to do so upon making Despite what you may have seen in the pictures, the product comes in a foil pouch with a resealable opening to ensure freshness. There are no ground up pieces here, only the whole thing. You can add this spice to your recipes and they will be great. This company would definitely be my first choice if I needed to buy.
This product has a great anti-fungal effect It is anti-viral This spice is antibacterial and antifungal, so it makes a great addition to homemade syrups and teas to help you feel better sooner when you are coming down with something. It comes in full form/some parts of it are damaged, but only a corner or two have been ripped away. One method I might consider is grinding some of it up into powder form so that I can sprinkle it over food.
Ah, excuse me! If I tell you it is fibrous, then believe me Even my super-smart cat loves her In spite of a powerful Vitamix, it was not possible to If you plan on using the powder in smoothies, etc. , I strongly recommend purchasing the finely ground powder. It has a luscious taste. It was my fault that I did not order it properly for my intended use. As of now, I've managed to duplicate it and plan to re-create I want to order finely ground star anise powder and give it to someone who knows what to do with it.
I ordered two 1lb bags of whole star anise. More than a quarter of the Star Anise were broken in one of the bags. The broken items weighed almost six ounces. Then it wouldn't just have been My spices are hand blended and given away as gifts to friends. The crumbs were just small fragments of the spice. The dust and crumbs I put inside my gift bags didn't work. I must have gotten a bottom of the barrel bag, as 6oz in a 16oz bag is a shocking amount of product. Because of the broken pieces in the first bag, I had to reduce the number of spice bags to distribute. However, the second bag didn't have any broken pieces. There were also bits and pieces of crumbs and fragments lying around the scene. Still, it was in a reasonable range. The first bag was an enormous disappointment for me, even though I do not expect perfection. Although I am hesitant to buy anything else from this company, I may look into it in the future.
In the midst of many star anise pods, I found only one broken one. It is of great quality and comes in a good package. It was amazing to find that almost all the Star Anise pods were intact. I only found one broken star among As I opened the bag, what immediately caught my attention was the smell of fresh Star Anise.
There is a big bag and cardboard box in which this is shipped. I recommend not crushing the dried anise seeds and flower buds in the mixture. The aroma is fabulous. When I have an upset stomach, I use it in a tea. I like it a lot.
I like the product, it smells and tastes good. The company will be my first choice for future purchases. Besides this product, I bought others from this company and all were fresh and well packaged.
I only wish I had known this before purchasing, even though it states 'USDA Organic'. I received this, and on its label it wrote that it might contain lead or chemicals known to cause cancer (it would have been nice to know that before purchasing). Considering the size of the package, it was very tiny. This is not something I would order Spending money on something useless is a waste.
