Yes, anise star can be used to make tea.
I have no way of knowing whether or not this is true. Crap! I purchased it because it was labeled as organic. I used it in my elderberry syrup and haven't gotten sick as a result of it. So far, it doesn't appear to be toxic.

Wow! The majority of the fruits are still whole, unlike most other brands of star anise, which are all smashed up. The aroma and flavor are fantastic, and it's ideal for making Pho broth.
I bought it for a friend, who has used it but hasn't said much to me about it. She was ecstatic when she received it, so I'd say she was pleased with it.
It was purchased with the intention of using it to make tea. They came in a nice bag, but the stars appeared to be in poor health and lacked seeds.
The depth of flavor in my Thai curries has been greatly enhanced.
It is fresh, and it tastes and smells fantastic.
I doubt this is organic; there is no smell, and the majority of them arrived broken and discolored, as if they had been stored for a long time; I will never buy from this source again.
That's some serious stuff.
