This was not my cup of tea. The vinegar was bought to pickle eggs. This cake has a ton of cinnamon in it. It was not the flavor I was looking for.
Though I really didn't want 3, I thought it might be nice. I bought 75 pounds of this spice mix, but no one was selling it by one pound. I paid a bit more than I would have if I had bought in the small grocery store sizes (ounces) at outrageous mark up prices, but it was the best deal I could find. Pickling spices from their site are good for corned beef. I have used them in the past for corned beef. My corned beef usually has a bit more coriander, juniper berries, and cardamom added to it.
It's not uncommon to find pickling spice in smaller containers for around $5 in my area, so it was exciting to find this size on Amazon for a great price. My initial intention was to pickle eggs with this pickling spice. In addition to pickling spice, malt vinegar, red pepper flakes, and two cinnamon sticks, this recipe calls for. The cinnamon actually doesn't overpower the other spices in this recipe, contrary to some reviews on here I also didn't find any to have too much spice In addition, a recipe wouldn't call for such a large quantity of cinnamon sticks in the first place if it already contained a significant amount of cinnamon in the pickling spice. I found the recipe to be There are no words to describe how delicious pickled eggs are! Besides using it to make corned beef, pickles, etc. , it can also be used for jam.
wanted to buy bulk pickling spices in bulk in order to can pickles during the summer. In most stores, the ones you find are very expensive (if you can even find them). Because I had been using McCormick pickling spice because of the taste (and the rave reviews) they gave, I was hoping I would find it online. Luckily, I did! This is exactly the same recipe that they sell in those little containers in the store. With this shipment, I'll be able to last me for the entire summer. It's amazing how good McCormick spices are!.
Spices are heavy in this dish and I do not think pickles are appropriate with it. Our goal was to make sweets that would complement the pot, but they still feel The next time I use it, I'll use something else.
The cinnamon is too strong and the preservatives are too many! When I bought this, I wanted more bang for my buck, and while it was more bang for my buck, the cinnamon was WAY too heavy! BUYING TO MAKE DILL PICKLES IS A BIG NO NO! One batch of the cookies ended up being so heavy on the cinnamon that I had to throw it away. The product is also so full of "filler" and preservatives that I am wondering if I should even eat anything that I pickle with it. My regret is that I will not be buying this item again, and I hope I can.
It would have been great for corned beef, but there was just too much clove in it, ruining the recipe. The spices are not granulated, so you will have to crush them in a mortar and pestle to make finer powder.
Not sure what kind of pickle they thought it would be suitable for. You can. There is a strong smell of mace and cloves in this preparation so dominant that it overpowers the rest of the ingredients to such an extent that I could not tame the odor even after picking Despite being completely impervious to everything in that jar with it, it had utterly penetrated.
