My third bowl of these nuts is complete, and here's what I think of them*-- The walnuts and pecans were relatively fresh and of good size. I would rate the walnuts as having the best freshness and taste, followed by the pecans as having good, but not exceptional, flavor. They were both stale and didn't have the pop or crunch of good nuts. There were plenty of old and shriveled almonds, some of which had cotton-like coatings on their surfaces. There were no fresh hazelnuts and the hazelnuts lacked crunch like a good hazelnut. As for mixed nuts, my husband loves to crack and eat them, but I can no longer find them now that the holidays are over. Though I was a little unsure whether the product would be as fresh as the ones I usually purchase, the squirrels seem to enjoy it. There were a lot of almonds rejected, but pecans, hazelnuts, and walnuts were liked. My only complaint is that there are not a lot of walnuts. The only walnuts I counted in 4lbs were 28.
