As a replacement for the walnuts that I requested, a shopper gave me this container of brazil nuts. Thank goodness I knew Brazil nuts were so high in selenium that one would not want to consume more than one It's very difficult for a company to sell a container of brazil nuts without including any kind of safety label, as eating a handful of those nuts can be highly toxic to you. For people who are planning to buy these as a selenium supplement, do your research, but for everyone else who just wants to grab a snack or gets them by accident like I did, there needs to be a warning label on the.
Brazil nuts aren't hard to crack! The only thing worse than not cracking them is not cracking them. Besides being a great source of selenium for thyroid health, we also use them as an alternative to trying to get the kids to take vitamins or supplements. They would probably be great coated in chocolate, so we will give that a try.
I threw away these due to the fact that they had a slightly rancid flavor and they should not be consumed. The Brazil nuts from Trader Joe's are considerably better quality and a better deal than the nuts you'd find elsewhere.

I wasn't sold on Brazil nuts prior to tasting this brand. I wanted to spend time with them because of their high nutritional value and healthy fats. It's the Brazil nuts - the only ones I've purchased twice*- that's all I have bought twice. The raw pistachios had already been sold out, and the salted cashews too, were done. My preferred type is unsalted.
We now have two containers. The brazil nuts stayed fresher longer when purchased in smaller quantities, because they were purchased in smaller quantities and this ensures freshness. These stayed fresh and snappy until the last nut without any trace of that "old" oily scent.
I love the brazil nuts. They are not the huge ones, and they are good for you.
