As always, I was very impressed with the taste of this marzipan, and have ordered it five times in the past two years. I have tried other marzipan from time to time and am always disappointed since it doesn't taste like this. The first bite is followed by an amazing sensation in the mouth until the end of the loaf.
The candy bar is slightly smaller than a regular American candy bar, at 4 oz. The Germans probably do not pay this much for their snack but I am sure they enjoy it as a handy Germany's Niederegger brand is well known around the world. Besides a cafe, they have a lot of other things to do. I like the flavor of the marzipan, but it's not outstanding. Almonds flavoured it and it was moist, but the list of ingredients indicates that all the ingredients are artificial. More ingredients are included in it than just almonds, sugar, and whatever binder is needed to hold it together (rosewater I am going to have to make my own marzipan from now on after this experience - it even says it may contain traces of other nuts. Purer and cheaper than other types of fish.
A gift she loved, I bought it for her as a stocking stuffer. As a result of having savored it and consuming only small amounts of it over a few weeks, I know how much she enjoyed it. When it comes to other treats, she rarely does that.
