Spanish potassium bitartrate is the source and origin of this product.
ORIGIN cream of tartar is a by-product of the process of fermenting wine. It is found in the sediment left in barrels after fermenting, then gets purified to become the powdery white powder that we use to bake with.
The most common use of cream of tartar in baking is to stabilize or leaven batters. In addition to making slime and play dough for children, it can also be used for making fly powder.
