Selected User Reviews For Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate) (1 gallon) by Unpretentious Baker, Resealable Bucket, Restaurant Quality, Highest Purity, Food & USP Pharmaceutical Grade

It smells like rubber when it gets here! UPDATE: Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is sold by the same seller (Quality Producer Direct) under a different label (Pure Organic) - I believe it's the same company operating under a *different* brand name - This item comes in a metallized resealable zipper bag
3/5

The bag is made of kraft paper on the outside and metal aluminized foil on the inside, with a ziploc-style closure. The opening is of a style that reseals well. Now that's a product I'd suggest! The metallized foil and zipper (when properly closed) have kept out any odors that might have gotten in, without imparting any of their own, and the baking soda arrived perfectly pure and odorless - That has remained the case so far. (I've decanted some to keep in a sealed mason jar in case the packaging fails again. ) ) That item is available in a variety of sizes; the 5lb. This is where you can get your bag: However, the following review still holds true for this listing (in the sealed gasketed bucket) as well as the other product it links to/mentions! br>br>I bought a sealed bucket of baking soda (10 lb. ) at the grocery store. , 1 gallon size) specifically because I wanted unprocessed baking soda. adsorption of odors in the environment Too often, I've bought a box or bag of baking soda only to discover that the powder inside smells like laundry detergent, spices, cleaning chemicals, and so on when I open it. Because I use baking soda to adsorb smells and have severe chemical sensitivities, I need baking soda that is truly unscented when it arrives. This sealed HDPE bucket, I hoped, would be sufficient. Unfortunately, no. Some HDPE lids have an inert gasket material built in - caulk-like - This binds them together. This is not the case in this instance. Instead, the designers opted for a lid with a separate rubber gasket. The gasket has a strong rubber odor to it. As a result, the baking soda used to seal it has a strong rubber scent. I might be able to remove this gasket, but the damage has already been done - Baking soda has been tainted by a foreign substance. Rubber VOCs that have been released into the atmosphere. Baking soda that smells like tires when it arrives defeats the purpose of the extra cost of a sealed bucket, in my opinion. I cannot recommend this product, and I would also advise you to stay away from the similar-sounding alternatives. 10 pound bagged The manufacturer's address and seller are the same, and the packaging appears to be identical, so it's a bucket of baking soda labeled with the "Earthborn Elements" brand. Here's a link to that product in case you're interested: disappointing.

Excessively expensive! Simply purchase ten boxes to save $19
3/5

Unreturnable and overpriced for the quantity! I was expecting a large bucket for the price offered when I bought it for pool use. Larger bags from Arm and Hammer are less expensive and come in double the quantity. Make a financial saving!.

A big thumbs up
5/5

When purchased in large quantities, it is fantastic. Cleaning projects, cat box odors, refrigerator odors, laundry, and car odors can all benefit from this product. It picks up odors from all over the place. I purchased a number of small plastic apples with tiny holes. I fill them up and toss them in places where there's a stench! It really works. 👍.

It's a lot of money
3/5

It's Just Baking Soda, After All! On this one, I've been dragged through the mud. Costco (13. ) is where I always shop. $7 for a 5 pound bag. 59). They were, however, no longer available. Buying this 1 gallon plastic for $30 seemed like a good idea at the time for some reason. 00! I had no idea a gallon weighed only 10 pounds! Baking soda, on the other hand, is just that: baking soda. It's the same stuff every time. THEN THERE WILL BE NO RETURNS! Hahahaha. I understand why. Peeps, be forewarned.

This isn't something you should buy
3/5

For the life of me, I couldn't get this lid open. The instructions for opening it are extremely ambiguous and unhelpful. I'd had enough and simply shattered the lid. It was a waste of money.

Baking Soda is an ingredient that can be used to make a variety of dishes I like the size of the baking soda, but the only problem was figuring out how to open it up without having to do other things
5/5

I did get it open, and while you can't usually open it again, it's fine.

It's what I use for fasting and mixing Snakejuice, and it's also good for your kidneys
5/5

If you're in a hurry, Arm and Hammer will suffice, but I prefer Food Grade Organics.
