As to my question, yes and I have. It's easier to use Pam, but Crisco also works just as well.

How does it taste on the grill?

I use it all the time on grills and bars, where food is able to move more easily and not stick to the grill. It doesn't have strong flavor that leaves an aftertaste on food.
