Having cooked potatoes in your microwave for that long takes no longer than cooking them normally. I have tried both methods, and I believe it works better with a microwave. The frozen ones are also no better than the fresh ones. As well, be careful of the amount you use, as what appears to be one serving on the label is actually three times as much once you rehydrate it. It is good and I will buy it again, but unless you spice them up, they are bland. As far as using oil according to the directions, it isn't necessary, just use a nonstick pan instead.
