To begin, I'd like to state that I enjoy green beans in a variety of forms, including fresh, frozen, and canned. And here's something else I learned about canned beans: The no-salt version tastes more like fresh beans than the salty canned variety (as does the case with other canned vegetables). In my opinion, Del Monte's Blue Lake canned green beans are the best. These are also an excellent vegetable for those who despise green vegetables. Mix with potatoes, minced onion, water chestnuts, and/or mushrooms for a delicious meal. Although I don't eat pork, a dash of bacon or minced ham would be a tasty addition.
My wife and I both enjoy the no-salt green beans; I'm on a low-sodium diet and these are perfect for me. We use these no-salt beans as dog treats, which is an intriguing issue. Green beans are also a favorite of hers. The can with the zip top is also fantastic. Opening time is very short.
We also use them as a filler in our dog's food to help her maintain a healthy weight. Our veterinarian recommended them for this purpose because Golden Retrievers have a tendency to gain weight.
