The sloppy Joe's last a couple of days, and I add a can of rotel diced tomatoes to mine.
It was clear that the damage did not occur during the shipping process.
There are no green or red peppers in this dish, which makes it extremely bland. There was nothing here but tomato purée. This isn't the Manwich I buy at the supermarket; there's no spice or flavor to it. I'm down to my last 11 cans. I guess I'll have to make tomato sauce out of them. Because that's the only flavor it has.
It is extremely simple to operate. Brown ground beef, turkey, or chicken in a skillet, then top with sauce and serve on rolls. Simply add a starch and a vegetable to make a quick dinner. If you don't have any rolls, put the prepared Sloppy Joe in a large baked potato or serve it over spaghetti for a delicious spaghetti with meat sauce dinner!.
I've tried the regular Manwich before and was never a fan. Although the bold version is more flavorful, I do add 2 tablespoons of Heinze Chili Sauce to the pot while it's cooking. Allow to simmer for 20 minutes on low heat, then top with coleslaw for a delicious sandwich.
The bold Manwich has the same flavor as the original before it became bland; there's some heat from the peppers, and the tomato is well balanced. 12 cans for $12 is a great way to stock up, especially as we head into the cooler months.
Along with the savory beef, the sauce has a vinegary, smoky, and tomato flavor. It tasted great at first because I was hungry and had antipasti on hand, but by the third bite, I couldn't get over how cloyingly sweet and sour it was, and the smoke was overpowering. I understand that it was the bold version, and that my Manwhich to bun ratio was off, but the flavors are completely unbalanced.
I'm not a fan of Sloppy Joes, but I use this in chili, spaghetti, meatloaf sauce, Parmesan, and other dishes. It's difficult to find in stores. The original is the only version available in most stores. This, in my opinion, is a better option.
