There are no shells in this dish; only smoked meat. I believe it is excellent.
No, they're smoked, just like a chicken that's been smoked. If you use a fork to eat them, they'll crumble.
Selected User Reviews For Crown Prince Natural Smoked Oysters In Pure Olive Oil - 3 oz - 3 Pack
I've never tried this brand before, despite the fact that I've been a long-time fan of smoked oysters. The Crown Prince Oysters were pricier than my usual picks (which were usually the cheapest at the grocery store so I could stock up on cans). I ordered the Crown Prince after reading Amazon reviews and was blown away! The most noticeable difference is that they are neither gritty nor mushy. They are smaller oysters that are more of a delicacy in a fantastic sauce. The oil is delicious, not overpowering, and leaves no unpleasant aftertaste, which I had no idea could be avoided. Sadly, this is true. We ate all three cans at the same time, which was hilarious! I'm completely addicted to this game.
This isn't the kind of thing they send out! On several occasions, I've placed an order for them. These even have a distinct flavor. I like the flavor of "pure olive oil," and the packaging is unique. all! I like both of them, but I can walk into either of them. These can be found in any store, but not the ones advertised. I'm not going to order them again.
This is by far the best brand I've come across. They're packed in olive oil rather than cottonseed oil, which I appreciate. They're also quite fat. Trader Joes, on the other hand, sells them for half the price.
I ordered these expecting to receive what was shown in the advertisement, but as you can see, I did not receive what I ordered and paid for. The brand name is the only thing that remains the same. This is not the same as the "pure olive oil" that I ordered. What I got is a mystery.
Very good quality! I've tried a lot of canned smoked oysters, and these are the best I've ever had. The oil is clear and clean, with no sand or muddy undertones. The oysters had a great texture that was soft and chewy at the same time. Lightly smoked, with a clean finish. Instead of being a dark little grey blob, each oyster was whole and looked like an oyster. I would strongly suggest it.
In extra virgin olive oil. It's very new. I'll be placing another order.
These are delicious clams, and I eat a can with cheese and crackers for lunch every now and then. The part that pulls the top away from the can frequently breaks off, making it difficult for me to remove the lid. Then I have to circle around a strangely shaped can with a can opener, which can be difficult. I wish the lid removal was a little easier, because I'd buy more of these delicious clams.
To enhance the flavor of the oil, I drain it and add white balsamic vinegar.
