In an effort to recreate a dish that my father often made with my siblings on Sunday mornings, I have been unable to find the same item. He would open a package of vacuum-packed meats and then add more meat to it as it cooks. Kippers packed in smoked tobacco and fried with I love it! They are much smaller and in a light brine, but they have much the same flavor, so I am quite pleased.
