As far as this type of herring is concerned, I think I am somewhat of an expert. This product is extremely awful, even my cats won't touch it, and it costs a lot of money. If you appreciate excellent food for your money, stay away from this product. The herring is a favorite of theirs.

While waiting for delivery I saw the exact product online, and I was shocked at the price. It was $3 for the same size and product. My price was $43 for the exact same item that cost $49 to my friend. For two packages, you would be charged $ 20. In the past, I have bought these at a store and they were large and thick, great for putting on a roll or a loaf of bread. There were small pieces of cheese that had to be piled high on the bread to be tasted. These pieces cost great deal of money because they are cut off at the ends.

The oil I bought them in I didn't know they were packed in. My favorite part of making pickled herring was making it myself. The jar has been topped up with onion and lemon. I am very pleased with the results. The fillets were perfect size for a bite.
