Prices rise as more people subscribe and save, and I believe we should be notified when the price rises by a certain percentage point. And a rise of approximately 45% seems to justify an email. With SAS, the price of a can increased from $4 to $8.
It's awful when things go wrong. I bought a number of items. EDIT: I bought a single pack of the salmon in a pouch, and it's awful. I was going to give it one star, but I can't review it on its own, so I'm combining the two reviews to give it a two-star rating. The salmon had turned into a mushy pouch. The best time to buy it is around the middle of the year. It will be almost two years from now, in the year 2022. I've ordered Wild Planet seafood several times in the last six months, but I won't order it again because the quality is inconsistent. I've had canned tuna that I had to throw away. Some of the sardines were so bad that the dogs refused to eat them, despite the fact that they prefer salt-free, water-packed sardines. It's a shame, because when a product is good, it's fantastic. Unfortunately, the bad products have been arriving more frequently than the good, and I'm not willing to risk being disappointed when I open the can or pouch any longer. Because salted canned salmon is more readily available in stores, I went with that option. I enjoy salt and savory foods, but I must limit my sodium intake, so I avoid adding salt to canned salmon, tuna, or sardines in a dish I'm preparing or salads I serve cold. This canned salmon excelled in providing the foundation for a salmon salad that I was able to season with one of my Penzey's blends that includes salt, and I'll be purchasing it again. When salt is added to food prior to canning, it tends to permeate the entire contents, similar to how you can tell the difference between pasta cooked in salted water and pasta that has only had salt added to the finished product. The fish in my salmon salad tasted dressed rather than salted, and the final product was even better than usual.
This is ideal for me because I prefer to eat foods that are low in salt. It has 165 milligrams of sodium per can, compared to 600 milligrams in regular versions from the same company. (The Crown Prince brand has 158mg per can and is sodium-free. ) 75 mg in each can of RainCoast Wild Pink Salmon). It also tastes pretty good. It's great that it's available on Amazon.
I read in some reviews that some people got their first batch and it was delicious, but the second batch was terrible. I almost didn't believe it, so I ordered a second case, which arrived in the same condition as the first. The first was perfect, with large flaky chunks that were delicious. My second case arrived, and it's mushy, with no large pieces, and it makes me want to puke. Wtf! Not cool.
That was truly revolting. I mean, I suppose it was foolish of me to expect this to resemble the image on the label. THIS WASN'T THE CASE. It had a tuna-like appearance, smell, and flavor. That's not even good tuna. Is it true, Wild Planet, that it's tuna? IS IT? I was surprised at how small the package was when I opened it, but it turned out to be just right for a sandwich - It would have been better if it had been a more palatable sandwich. It had a sour taste to it. not much. And it smelled bad. And, yay, I purchased two of them.
I like to keep canned salmon on hand to eat on its own or in salads. I prefer small cans because I don't have to worry about storing leftovers in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, most canned salmon is extremely salty, so I rarely consume an entire can. However, because this one is salt-free, I can easily toss the entire can into a salad. The only issue is that I almost never see the "no salt" variety at Whole Foods, so I have to order large quantities from Amazon.
Beware. I believe I was poisoned by Mercury after eating this canned salmon. It had a significant impact on how I felt. for a week's worth of good health Following that, I discovered that canned fish contains chemicals that aren't listed on the label. There was definitely something toxic in this brand, and I know it was because I got sick three times after eating three different cans of salmon. I didn't realize it was directly from eating this canned Salmon the first two times I ate it, but when I got sick the third time, I realized it was all connected. Everyone should be aware of this. This salmon in a can should not be purchased.
When you first open the can, you'll notice a strong fishy odor, followed by a large amount of liquid in the can, about a third of its volume. After that, there was the unappealing mashed fish. I was looking for a nice solid piece, but it was broken up into small flakes that smelled bad. br>I'm sure there are better quality brands out there; all I have to do now is find them, but this brand is no longer on my list!.
