Hops of a different type. Whenever I get Brewers Best kits, I always enjoy them. It's easier to mix malts and hops when using these kits, and they offer value and convenience.
Specifically, the product description stated that it contained NZ Motueka Hop as its primary ingredient. Expected 3 ounces of NZ Motueka Hops and 1 ounce of US Magnum Hops, but received Columbus and Idaho 7 Brand. A Rotator Hop series is one thing, but a 'Torpedo Hop' series is another. I'm talking about an entirely different series called 'Mystery Hop'. As it turned out, the delivery box was open and beaten up by the time it arrived, but the BB kit was intact.
I have ordered Brewers Best three times in the past year, and parts are regularly missing. There were 3 missing in this one. The mix contains 3 lbs of LME and 8 ounces of maltodextrin. Even an inspection tag appears to have been added to the box to indicate it has been inspected. The significance of this was evidently.
There are no New Zealand hops in this kit as advertised, though it's sure to be a great kit. So, instead of beer, I picked up some Idaho hops. Similar errors were reported in other reviews, so it appears to be a consistent problem. A word of caution to the buyer.

I wanted to make a IPA, but it turned out different. I thought it was more like a beer. Tasted pale-colored but had a nice texture I am Alley. These wines have a high ABV, and a couple of them knock you to your seat. Based on my calculations with the hydrometer, I determined that I received *8% or so, which is the highest reading I've ever gotten, and I do not In reality, it's more likely to be at least 7, which is still rather high. Still, it's a great.
The Brewers Best Extra IPA that came from North Mountain Supply was delivered just now. It's too difficult to decide whether to return it or pick up a new yeast packet at the local home brew supply store. **The box was opened, the ingredients were outdated, and the packaging was damaged. This recipe looked appealing, so now I have to choose whether I want to try it or not. This item should be returned and a different one should be found. If the outdated ingredients are the problem, simply replace them and brew as usual.
