Not at all. I believe that the only thing that is normal to have mold on is cheese (and even cheese could be contaminated). This white coating is not mold if you are talking about it.
My cardboard container from Black Tie, from which I received my order, has long been empty, and the heavy plastic bag there is empty as well.
The same thing comes to mind for me, and I have been ordering it for several years.
Mold does not grow on white stuff on the outside, if that is what you mean. believe that it is intentional in order to keep the candy from sticking to the package.

The bag I ordered was "off" as others, I now see, have recently reported. I have gotten these bags for the past year. I have no idea what's going on with this. Then I tried a few more to see if it was just that Not at all. I'm sorry to hear that. Due to the fact that the seller does not allow returns, I am taking the time to put together my I would not recommend buying.
A really bad choice. The Ginger People is a great company, but I wish I had seen this review before I bought from them. I gave this a 0 out of 5 star rating because I thought it was terrible! As I have been drinking gins for the past few weeks, I know what exactly they should taste like. My experience with the chews in this 2lb bag was completely different from what I was expecting. There was very little ginger flavor and no after taste in what I received, and the wrappers were different as well. I compared it with what I buy at the grocery store, and it tasted much better, and it felt smoother and more tender in comparison. The differences are subtle, but they can still be noticed if you compare- Unlike the front, the back is a different color and has a different font and layout. They are completely useless, and the store won't allow me to return them! I am terribly disappointed! Purchase these items at your own risk! The taste is a delicious combination of sweet and spicy, and they are one of my all-time favorite candies.
