No, not at all. Despite the fact that sugar alcohol is not the same as other carbs, the FDA requires companies to label it as one of the total carbs. A regular carb has 4 calories per gram, whereas sugar alcohol has closer to 2 calories per gram. 5 calories per gram (similar discrepancies exist for carbs on labels that are actually dietary fibers and thus cannot be digested normally). The label for this gum states that it contains 1 gram of carbs per stick, but if you look beneath that, it specifies that it contains 1 gram of sugar alcohol.

I'm not a fan of the new Trident packaging or gum pieces - I've been chewing trident for a while now, and I'm thinking about switching to something else. Because the new packaging contains fewer, slightly larger pieces, chewing gum takes less time. It's not like the fact that the stick of gum is a fraction larger means it will last an infinite amount longer. I chew a single piece at the same speed as when they were slightly smaller, but there are fewer of them now. Furthermore, the additional plastic wrapping on a single pack is superfluous. I have to get past an annoying layer of obstruction to get to the gum, and using more plastic when the old packaging was perfectly adequate is bad for the environment.
How did you come to the conclusion that this is the superior flavor? It appears that gum chewers aren't one of them! Unless you switch back to the old formula, I'll be on the lookout for a new favorite spearmint gum brand.
I used to be a huge fan of this gum and would buy a box at least once a month. I'm not sure I'll buy anything with the new packaging. I'm very dissatisfied with the change; you get less gum for your money, and the packaging is more difficult to work with than before. br>br>At work, I frequently share my gum, and I've found that a single pack of gum with fewer sticks lasts less time. I understand that the previous packaging was not perfect, but this was not an improvement. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> Just a friendly reminder that the packaging has not been fixed and continues to stink. The biggest issue I've discovered after using it for a while is that the packages literally rip in half all the time; they're glued together with a weak glue, and the cardboard holding the two sides together most of the time tears after a single day of use. I'm downgrading my rating to a one-star rating.
I'm not sure why the perfect gum was changed by Trident. After years of experimenting with various gums, I discovered that these were my favorites, and when I discovered that I could buy these large packs from Amazon for such a low price, I began purchasing them every 6 months or so for the past few years. If Trident doesn't return to the old gum, I might have to change that. The new one has a stronger flavor, is larger, and has a lower unit count per pack. I didn't care for any of it.
I like the Xylitol in this because it adds a nice, strong flavor. We have an autistic child who has poor oral hygiene. He came out to speak with us after finishing his work on Kim during one of our visits to the special needs dentist. He claimed that toothpaste is a waste of money, saying, It makes no difference when it comes to tooth decay prevention. Xylitol, on the other hand, DOES prevent tooth decay and should be used with Kim. He claimed that Xylitol is found in some gums, but Kim does not chew gum. Then he told me that after brushing, I should dip the brush in Biotene rinse and use it to brush her teeth. I'm glad I have the gum now for my granddaughter to chew because xylitol wasn't widely known back then. She also doesn't care much for brushing, but she enjoys the gum, which I know is dentist-approved!.
I like to snack throughout the day, and this has become one of my favorites. It seems like every brand of gum loses its flavor quickly, and this one is no exception, but it's the best I've found in terms of quality and price. The flavor doesn't last long – I'd say about 10 minutes before it turns into a flavorless mass – but it lasts noticeably longer than other brands I've tried. And, when compared to prices in other places, such as supermarkets, this Amazon box is a bargain.
I'm not sure what's causing the black marks on the gum wrappers, but I can tell you that the thousands I've bought in the past few years have all been free of them. They've never been available in a store before. I'm hoping that neither does my replacement. It could be nothing, but it could also be something, and because that something could come into contact with a product I consume, I take precautions. br>br>I'm disappointed that I didn't open another pocket pack before finishing the last one.
As an alternative to the chiclet style Epic gum that I usually buy, I purchased this Trident Sugar Free gum in spearmint and cinnamon. Actually, I bought the Epic and enjoy it as well (same flavors), but the Trident has a softer texture that I prefer for a change. Xylitol is used as a sweetener in both - I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, but it's certainly better than chewing gum, which is what I usually do. Both have a similar flavor to them - The spearmint isn't overly minty, and the cinnamon isn't overly spicy. As the fairy tale character says, "just right. ".
