Well, I can tell you why. I opened all four boxes and found them to be stale. As solid as a rock They were so hard to chew that I couldn't even get a bite of them. This is a disaster. August 29th and 21st are the most commonly used dates. So far, so good, but it's not the case. I tried contacting Kellogg's, but their phone system is so inefficient that I'm left with four boxes of rock hard pop tarts and no idea what to do with them. They aren't even wanted by the dogs.
I usually pick these up at the store and eat them for a quick, light breakfast; they're always moist, supple, and flavorful. Right out of the package, those from Amazon are stale and crumbly. Very let down.
The entire case of 64 pastries had an "Eat by" date of August. 21 were dry, with a chewy, difficult-to-chew strawberry filling. I'm not sure how it happened, but the way it was stored accelerated the product's aging process, reducing its shelf life.
That's the way things are done in the business world. The tarts are absolutely delicious! When I order them from Amazon, the icing is only on about a third of them. The ends of a lot of them have been broken off. That is, if I ever receive them; most of the time, I receive an email stating that they are out of stock. What the hell is going on with Kellogg's? MORE SHOULD BE MADE! OR BUY MORE ON AMAZON! A company should never run out of the products it sells! Every time they don't have them in stock, they've simply lost a sale. That, in my opinion, is poor math.
I've always loved brown sugar cinnamon pop tarts, and this was a great deal, so I gave them to my granddaughters in large quantities. They occasionally arrive broken, and the quality isn't as good as it once was, but I still enjoy them. I only gave them four stars because their quality has declined.
Every two months, these are delivered to my home. My deliveries will now come to an end. The last two batches, according to what I've received, are terrible! They were extremely dry, completely broken up, filling like glue, and lacking in creaminess. Only a smidgeon of frosting on top. Great Price, but Poor Quality and Value!.
I was hesitant to buy them after reading some negative reviews about stale, inedible pop tarts, but I'm glad I did. I'm sorry that some people got a bad batch, but the ones I got were exactly what I expected from a pop tart, with no flaws. In fact, I devoured them much faster than I anticipated, and I'm about to place another order. Anyway, given that the majority of the reviews were negative, I figured it was only fair to share my positive experience.
I pay a little more for it here, but it's worth it to have it delivered for free and not have to give Walmart any of my money.
