They appear to be homemade, but they aren't! As a sort of treat, we'll have them for breakfast on Saturday morning. We'll bake these and split them in half over a layer of tater tots baked to a crispy golden color, then pour sausage gravy over the top, followed by scrambled eggs. When I was in college, the local Hardee's restaurant in Macomb, IL had a great late-night after-hours option. The "Harold Special" was the name given to it in honor of the man who designed it. It wasn't an official menu item, and it was only available after midnight at first, but it was so popular that it was extended to 2 a. m. 00, but they'd deliver it to your doorstep for 50 cents! Those were the days, those were the days, those were the days, those were the It's delicious, so give it a shot!.
Mom never made anything this light and flaky.
I know what a true Southern biscuit looks like and tastes like, and this isn't one of them. The flavor is off and it tastes more like a regular biscuit.
