For over 6 years, our oatcakes were made to the 211 recipe, but about 6 years ago we switched to recipe 201. Despite the fact that the recipe 211 was a more original one, our NPD Director decided to go back to it. There is a slight difference in texture between the 211 recipe and the 11 recipe, since the oatmeal cakes are a bit thinner. As opposed to previous recipes, this one uses only 7g of sugar. As a result, Amazon was unable to ship goods into Walker's warehouse due to a temporary closing for the safety of its employees. Gluten in our oat crackers comes from the oat plant. Although we don't guarantee gluten-free wheat oat crackers since they all are made on lines that are also used for products containing wheat. In a sense, they are neither shortbread nor crackers, but more of a mashup between both. Since they are not buttery and sweet like shortbread, they are not made with butter and contain very little sugar. Their taste is different from cakes and they don't resemble Scandinavian crispbread either at all. I highly recommend these oatcakes in lieu of Nairn's - they are considerably different The crackers we have in the United States are harder and blander, more like English water crackers. The Walkers Shortbread Highland Oat Crackers, 9oz, I purchased were from Walkers Shortbread. Compared to what I remember, the crackers are a bit crumbly, but the taste is as I expected from a cracker of this type. They have consistency in texture, not varying a lot from one cracker to the next, and like others, they are best eaten with an accompaniment and are unpalatable when eaten by themselves. Soft textures and/or sweet toppings match these well. They are easily adorned and can be topped however you like without worrying that they won't stay in place. To me, they aren't weighed down by the topping so their texture can be enjoyed without it. The fact that each of these come with four individually wrapped packets ensures that they remain fresh longer. In addition to putting opened crackers in the refrigerator, I also store them in there.
I ordered my first delivery within minutes of receiving it. As soon as I tasted and felt it, I was addicted. Despite my love of multi-grain snacks and cereals, I decided to try the 3seed flavor.
