The food my grandma made for the holidays wasn't gourmet, but she always made sure there was a table full of My inlaws' Christmas party is one of my favorite traditions so I brought one of these fruit cakes this year. My grandma's recipe contained alcohol. This cake wasn't like hers because it wasn't overpowering and didn't taste like it. I was very happy to discover that this cake was moist and had a terrific combination of nuts and mixed fruit. My colleagues at the event raved about it and everyone agrees that this is the best fruitcake they've ever tasted. I'll definitely be adding this to my rotation for the year.

It is a Fruit cake, not a Nut cake - it is very good. CHERRIES! I even had some fat, juicy ones! My personal preference is for nuts to be chopped smaller (some are) or not chopped at all. Cut into smaller pieces. This cake is a bit crumbly but I should have chilled it a little before serving Cut with a sharp knife (not serrated (chews it up"). It's still good to eat but not as appealing to look at.

In fact, I made it as a gift for my husband, who had not eaten fruitcake for many years. He absolutely I thought it was much smaller than I expected and I agree with him that it was moist, fresh, and packed with nuts. For myself, though, I would have liked just a bit more cake and just a few less nuts.
