As well as me, I had this happen BEFORE I changed the input on my television. There's a good chance you used your Wii with the "AV" input before you bought this cable. The basic idea is that, if your tv provides the same 5 ports for AV and Component (most do) switching out the cables and leaving the tv on the AV input will result in a black and white image. Your television's component input needs to be switched to component after switching the cables.
