When you use a stylus, you will never scratch the screen, unless it is damaged or dirty. Your fingernail scratches the touchscreen and the screen becomes less usable over time.

In the original DS, they were the style. Use a brand that is different.
The shapes and sizes are wildly different among these. I would skip them and recommend finding one that is more appropriate.
As pictured, the product I received is different from what I received. New 3DS XL styluses are not compatible with black or red styluses. It is difficult to maneuver them because of their length and narrowness. Although the tip of the gold one was rough, it was the right size. It is not worth the risk of scratching my screen.
It was the gold one that I was most excited about, but I realized that the more I used it, the more I would scratch the gold paint Unfortunately, it wasn't as great as the red one, so I switched to it. The end of the screen protector can scratch up sometimes, so if I didn't have one, I would be scared to look into it. You should definitely wear a screen protector. Although it is nice to have multiple screen protectors, their quality isn't very good since they should not.
In addition to what many other reviewers have said, this product only comes with one stylus (gold) that even comes close to fitting Even the one that does fit has a rigid tip, unlike the soft tip of the official Nintendo stylus, and I am not going to risk damaging my screen just to make use of this horrible and useless device. This product has been advertised.
What is going on here with the product packaging I don't know. One of the only two that actually fits into the New 3DS slot is the gold one. As they are too long and different shapes at the end, it looks as though the black and red ones are two separate products. In fact, all of the black and red ones come with a clear plastic tip. It will fit in the new 3DS slot for at least one and can be used for the black and red ones as well. I gave it 2 stars because at least one will fit in it and there are one or two I can use.
There was some confusion regarding the review for this product since I had read only the gold version fit in the new 3DSXL. Nevertheless, they all fit tightly and lock into place so they won't fall out. For just under four bucks, I think it is a great deal.
I had to sand the tip to avoid scratching the screen with the sharp edges left from the poor molding. the stylus slot is a little tight and the tip is a little tight in the stylus slot. For the price, I would recommend them to others without hesitation. Although the colors are a little off, especially the red one, they serve my needs just fine and I do not hesitate to recommend them.
