Selected User Reviews For Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD Player

High image quality is available with HD DVDs, but watch out for component and SD DVDs
5/5

A first point I'd like to emphasize is that every review mentions this player's excellent Do not be concerned about the load times as I was after reading all the reviews. There is hardly any evidence of it. Once it is powered on, you can put in your DVD as soon as it is switched on. I am not even concerned about it. one issue that I have not seen in a review before that I have discovered with this unit.

If you are using component cables like I am as your HD TV does not have HDMI then you need to know as I was only informed recently. It is known that component cables are not digital and therefore will not convert SD movies (Toshiba claims there are titles but none I have tried so far have worked A couple of examples are the shooter and the bad boy). In my understanding, this is caused by a macrovision flag on the DVD that forces the player to play in 43 when it should run in 32 You have a 163 image (which is terrible. 76%) as well as remaining at 480p. Since I have been trying to reach Toshiba, I have been unable to receive It shows 16 on the player's screen The image is 4 but the number is 9 Black bars along each side of the screen make the screen look nice. An error with the firmware could cause this. As of now, I still don't know how to do it. Moreover, the movies play in widescreen format, and I am not an idiot. It shouldn't matter whether you have HDMI or not if you have HDMI. It is well worth the investment when used with either connection since HD DVD's are displayed at 169 in perfect quality. This looks amazing on 9 and just looks amazing in general. This is my view on the matter and I intend to keep my old DVD player next to my new one until the problem is figured out or spend the $300 Toshiba recommended last, on a new HD projector. And if you are wondering about the HD DVD protection flag, it seems that no studios have enabled it on HD DVDs so as to encourage While the future of that may not be so great, for now, HD-compliant components are available HD video can be viewed on DVDs if you have the right connection You don't have to throw out your old DVD player, since you have so many DVDs. Additionally, I have recently read that you can accurately upscale dvds if you copy them and play them. To be honest, I was going to do this just for fun, but I'm not feeling like burning all my movies.

The movie industry does amazing work! Through HDMI, I am watching a Magnavox 37" 720p/1080i 37MF321D/37, with two two-channel stereo speakers Connected to my HDTV are speakers that I have on a shelf

With the Toshiba HD A2, you can't go wrong! HD A2 is well built, aesthetically pleasing, and has a larger footprint than most devices with the same attributes. There are just a few connectors on the back, so it appears a bit "naked", but it accomplishes everything it's meant In terms of quality, we can say I am blown away! I was truly amazed at the quality of HD DVD's presentation. This brings the theater experience to your living room as there is so much audio and visual information to process! I am extremely impressed by the quality of the video. I should point out my TV is a physically small 1366 x 768, so my HD DVD collection can certainly surprise me again at some point.

Always a pleasure listening to this music! Assuming I had room for five, I would give it to you. If there were only 1 setup, I'd imagine the high-end setup would be In my opinion, the new high-definition audio modes [Dolby TrueHD / DTS HD (core)] would captivate me in a way that is far beyond what the current two channels of Dolby Digital audio do The whole thing still blows me Featuring outstanding video and audio quality, the HD A2 delivers all of the video and audio information in an amazing It has never been of concern to me that startup speed is slow Just now I timed for the intro logo to appear and it took roughly 30 seconds. It is not uncommon for me to have my movie ready to go in by the time the HD A2 is ready. The HD A2 runs quietly while it is in operation. Using it is easy. It takes very little time to set up. A remote control full of features, which works I well, has a nice structure and is well In my opinion, the lack of a full frame for the outer edge of some of the buttons gives the design a bit of a "prototype" feel, but this in no way reduces the button's functionality I jumped at the chance to purchase this at a price of $360 and was really happy with the result. I think that Toshiba's current promotion will make it just right with its five free HD DVDs mailed to me [as long as I don't forget them]! I highly recommend this product!.

It makes me very happy

The best DVD player out there. The first step is to set up Plug this into the HDMI port of a H/K AVR745 to use this. After the signal is received by the receiver, it is sent to a Panasonic PT-200 Through HDMI, you can project an image on an AX100 projector. In a theater room dedicated to home entertainment, this device is used. As of now, I am using logic 7 on the AVR without Faroudja. I had little voice in my DVD player until I set it to 2 channel audio when I played my first DVD. As I became more worried, I became more While doing some research, I discovered that my AVR needed an update. The software was installed and everything worked fine. A previous DVD player, the H/K DVD47, will be replaced by this device. In my case, I was able to get a good picture quality improvement and I got a good sound quality improvement upon playing the first HD DVD (Planet Earth), but I was experiencing some issues. There is nothing new to add to what has already been said. As a result, I downloaded and installed an update for the DVD player (easy) and everything started working again. So far, what has impressed me most is how well the Now that I have a Sony PS3 in the same room that has just as good picture quality and audio when playing blu-ray movies However, when I want to play a standard DVD I always use the Toshiba because it is just a better player. Toshiba has also been kind enough to send every new update as a free CD. We now come to the downside. When it comes to power, it is slow- Afterwards the speed is the same as any While the remote is very nice, I cannot figure out how to advance or reverse a frame at a time. Using this feature on a PS3 is a great idea. This is all I have to say. The new HD-style TVs are not backward compatible As for the construction of this unit, the HD-. II looks and feels very solid and is well built. Also, the A3's remote is cheaper and has fewer options for connecting. That's probably why HD-equipped vehicles are so popular In my opinion, the A3 is cheaper (a newer model does not always imply better value). This Toshiba HD-80i HD DVD player is an excellent choice for those seeking HD DVD players in 720p/1080i.
