Questions & Answers

Is this system temperature sensitive, and can it be installed in a garage that doesn't have any heat?

The recorder's operating temperature range is 14° 131°F / -32° C. The temperature ranges from 10 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

How many frames per second do these cameras have?

Frame rates for the cameras in this system are 4K(8MP)@15fps, 4MP@20fps, and 3MP/2MP@30fps.

What is the maximum cable length that this system will accept?

Between an NVR and a camera, the maximum Ethernet cable length is 328 feet (100 meters). If you need a longer Ethernet cable, you can add a Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch between the Ethernet cables. Multiple connections may cause signal degradation, so we recommend only using single connections. If using switches to extend Ethernet cable length, the camera will need a power source within 300ft (100m) of it.

Is it possible to use this dvr with one or more of your model lnz44p12b cameras with controllable zoom? Is it possible to control that via the app?

This is a network video recorder (NVR) rather than a digital video recorder (DVR

At all costs, stay away from this company and its product
3/5

Horrible customer service, and the product isn't even functional! The star rating has been reduced to one. If I could, I'd give it a zero-star rating. The cameras simply do not change from day to night settings as they should, resulting in an image that is far too bright to see during the day and far too dark to see at night. I've called tech support a few times and they keep asking the same questions. They even remoted in and couldn't fix the problem. They are unfamiliar with their own product, and when told that the issue would be escalated to the next level of support, they demanded all of the same information. This is the product for you if you enjoy spending over $1000 on a product that doesn't work and spending hours on hold with people who will lead you in circles. This was purchased to replace eight-year-old Samsung security cameras, which were far superior. As far as I can remember, I've never been so annoyed by a company's product or support. br>br>The image quality is not as good as I had hoped. You can't turn off the spot lights that come on, and you can't control how sensitive it is when it switches to night vision, so it tries to stay on color at night with even the smallest amount of light, resulting in reduced night visibility. I had a Samsung security system prior to this one, and I regret not keeping it.

Software
4/5

I really like these cameras, but the software could be a lot better for a camera that costs over $1,000. I have a ring doorbell, and the software on it is far superior. 4 out of 5 stars.

Nice all- camera surveillance system in the vicinity I've switched back and forth between consumer and professional services a few times now
5/5

grade battery-powered cameras that are easy to set up but lack advanced features like the ability to be integrated into a home automation system. br>br>Getting cameras like these Lorex installed takes a lot of work compared to "just hang it somewhere and watch it online," but the end result, in my opinion, is worth it. br>br>The issue most people will have is Ethernet wiring - Each camera requires an Ethernet cable for power and data, which can be difficult to come by if you don't already have them. Because I lacked the necessary cabling in my home, the majority of the work was spent wiring it. br>br>After spending some time deciding where I wanted the cameras, I considered how best to run the wiring. In my case, I wanted the DVR to be close to my other electronics, which meant a long distance between the cameras and the DVR. I purchased a few POE Ethernet switches instead of wiring all of the cameras back to the DVR. There are three of them. All four cameras are connected, and all of the switches are routed back to the room where my DVR is housed, using a single high-speed cable. Backbone network with high speed. br>br>For security and capacity reasons, I purposefully separated the camera network from my "normal" home network. I didn't want my existing network devices to be slowed down by the data generated by a large surveillance system. Furthermore, I have serious doubts about the security of some of the software in these systems - I don't want my cameras to end up on the Internet by accident. My solution makes it simple to protect the camera network from the Internet by using a firewall.

I'd say that about 80% of the work in getting these cameras installed is getting the wiring right is getting the wiring right is getting the wiring right br>br>The cameras themselves are excellent in general, though they lack optical zoom and any type of PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) to track movement. Nonetheless, my plan has been to use these for general monitoring while supplementing them with 1- 2 high- To complete my system, I'll need high-end PTZ cameras. br>br>One of the problems I've had with other brands is that I live in a salty environment. Not only has this proven to be difficult on anything I place outside, but the camera lens frequently fogs over with humidity, or becomes quickly dirty as salt air deposits form on it. So far, I'm pleased to report that these cameras appear to be coping admirably with the harsh conditions. br>br>In bright light, I find the 4K picture quality to be excellent, but in dim lighting, I find it to be average. The color night vision feature works, but it appears to produce images that are slightly less detained. There are a few other features on the cameras, such as two-way audio. a two-way audio system with a built-in theft-deterrent system light that serves as a deterrent All of these appear to function as expected, though the speaker is a little weak. br>br>I didn't see it mentioned in the documentation, but these cameras also work with Blue Iris and, presumably, other products if you don't like the Lorex DVR and software that comes with it. That was important to me because I use facial recognition and a few other features to integrate the cameras with my home automation system, and the Blue Iris software is in charge of everything. I was able to integrate security lights and audio controls with my home automation system with the help of BlueIris - I couldn't find this feature on any of the other cameras I looked at. br>br>Overall, I'm pleased with this configuration. It provides adequate coverage, is reasonably priced, and works well enough with my other security and monitoring tools. It takes careful planning and some installation work, but the end result, in my opinion, is well worth it.

There is no Wifi, so you'll have to use a wired connection
3/5

The system is on par with others. If you want to use the could option or monitor from anywhere, you'll need to put it close to your router or close to your router. There is no way to connect to the internet. Even though it's "4K," a potential introducer's face is unrecognizable when zoomed in. " If you forget your password and your computer isn't connected to the Internet, you won't be able to get help from tech support. They'll simply ask you to open it and reset it for them. It won't accept a wireless keyboard, so if you don't have a wired one, you'll have to type in the password with a mouse every time. I think the Ethernet cords were my least favorite part at first. They appear to be of good quality and are long enough for the most part, but unwinding them and keeping them from becoming tangled or twisted is extremely difficult. The wired option has the advantage of continuing to run even if there is no internet connection! (Of course, to get decent quality, your monitor/screen must support 4K or something higher than 720p. ).
