Selected User Reviews For JBL CHARGE 5 - Portable Bluetooth Speaker with IP67 Waterproof and USB Charge out - Blue
I upgraded to this mobile phone from the Charge 3 simply because I am a filthy consumerist who enjoys the latest and greatest products. I can say that I feel the sound quality has been improved significantly. The best headphones I've ever owned are from JBL JBL is one of my favorite brands for portable speakers, and almost all of my friends also own JBL products. A great sound and a great build make them a great choice. It would probably be better for you to check out the charge 3 or the charge 4 if you do not regard yourself as a huge audiophile otherwise. I will say that I can tell that the sound is a bit better but not significantly so.
As a former owner of a Charge 3, I decided to upgrade as my battery began to fail. Although I saw a lot of videos saying the sound is similar to previous generations, I strongly disagree. This charge 5 is a fantastic speaker and its bass is insane right at the volume level that it is. I can fill my entire house with great music using this speaker alone, believe me.
I wanted a speaker that I could transport and not worry about the battery dying on long outdoor activities. I always liked the JBL brand (Harmon Kardon is the parent company of JBL). There is no doubt this speaker is on the higher side of the price scale for its category. But you pay for quality, because it looks and sounds great. Thanks to the addition of a tweeter and a sleek new design, it is a very different beast from its predecessors. You can't go wrong with the Charge 5 if you would like something portable and lightweight that doesn't compromise on sound quality.
My first experience with it was so good that I bought a second one shortly after so I could use the partyboost feature, and I am loving it! Stereo mode (as set up in the app) sounds better to me than the partyboost, as the partyboost often sounds like the speakers are competing with each other. However when they are in stereo, their sound is cleaner. I understand, however, that in addition to a second speaker, a third speaker can only be involved in partyboost, which I think is fine. Even though partyboost sounds and works great, it just makes more sense to use them in stereo. The picture of the speakers doesn't really convey how nice they look in person (I know), but they have a beautiful, bright red color to them in person, especially outside in the sun. The better they are, the louder they are at lower volumes without distorting because the speakers will not be stressed. So, if you buy two (or more) of them, it will sound louder for longer before distorting from long periods of time.
The JBL Portable App needs to be updated with the latest firmware.
I love the size and the fact that it is lightweight and fits well. I was so pleased with how well it was built and what I was looking for in a portable Bluetooth.
It took me about 15 minutes to receive this speaker. As soon as I hooked it up to my phone, I began I was able to connect my computer easily. The only positive is that at half lever, the bass is way too loud and the distortion is too loud. A 35-year-old begins to study The highs sound as if they are coming from a blown speaker when set to 40%. It is so disappointing. I can make my JBL Clip 2 louder without distortion by comparing it to that.
I just got my Charge 5 and it works just great straight out of the box. As far as I can tell, it's exceeded all my expectations. As a result of watching many review videos before buying, I decided the Charge 5 met all my requirements. Despite the possibility of converting the flip, I chose this model due to the size of the battery and the ability to charge other devices more than once.
