This radio arrived in the mail very early this morning. First, I connected it to my FM antenna on the outside of my house. I live in a metal-sided shop building, so fm and am are nearly impossible to get, but I needed a set that would work because I prefer radio to television. It worked well on my antenna in this location. It was truly amazing outside. I have to have my antennas up high to get anything here, but outside I sat and listened to FM stations I hadn't heard since my GE super radio died. If you've ever heard of the super radio, you'll understand what I'm talking about. On AM, this radio picked up stations from Ohio and Kentucky without having to adjust the radio position. I'm surrounded on three sides by mountains, which make radio reception difficult, but this little 27. Those stations were drawn in by 99 dollar radio's outreach. A plus. There is no way to charge it. It is powered by 3 D. a. a. a. a. a. a a power. So, whatever you want or need, you can plug it in or take it outside. Normally, I am not overly enthusiastic about a Chinese product, but this time I can confidently state that I highly recommend this radio. You could spend a lot more money, but I doubt you'd get a better return. I sincerely hope that this information is beneficial to someone.
The only issue I have is that when reversing directions, the tuning knob is sloppy. If you fix that, you'll get a perfect score of ten out of ten. br>It appears that the design and manufacturing were done with great care. The speaker grill is a nice black metal that sits flush with the right-hand control panel. The tuning scale on this radio is 4" long, which is twice as long as most other radios' tuning scales. br>br>I just checked the scale on my CCRadioEP, and it's at 3. 5". The higher the scale, the better the tuning resolution. When you plug in the power cord, the batteries are automatically disconnected. When the AC is turned on, it does not appear to add any noise to the AM stations. Both sides of the earphone jack are mono. br>The total number of cells in the human body is eight. 25" wide, 6" tall, and 2" deep. 5" deep. If you measure the speaker from the inside, it is 3" tall. If you measure from the outside, it will be more. br>br>Update: By removing the knob and applying pipe thread seal tape, the sloppy tuning was corrected. Anything, including a sliver of paper, would have sufficed. I took it to the park with my Sony ICF-S1 in the afternoon. Tecsun PL-36 and Tecsun PL- 680 In terms of distant station reception, this was on par with or better than AM radios. I couldn't get 650 AM Nashville last night, so I tried about eight radios before deciding on the TR604.
It's small and straightforward, and despite his blindness, he can tune it himself. Both stations have incredible volume and clarity for the price, and we are both very pleased. 😊.
It's a DSP (Digital Signal Processing) device. based radio, and I'm guessing the brand wants the radio to appear to have a "long-running" format. Using "TR" in the model name gives off a "distance" vibe. It suffers from fading weak AM signals at night (though not as much as cheaper DSP radios). It has a tone switch and enough audio power for most stations. The tuning knob makes it easier to fine-tune those signals that are difficult to narrow down to the signal's center for optimal reception. For FM signals, it appears to work fine without extending the whip antenna. I can't comment on battery life because I just got it the other day and haven't had it long enough, but "D" batteries should last quite a while. br>br>The unit I received appeared to be well-built, with the dial pointer indicating the approximate frequency tuned to (unlike a QFX model, where I had to readjust the dial pointer to get closer to the dial frequency). br>br>Overall, I think this is a good purchase and it's just as good, if not better, than the Studebaker SB2001 model for the simple reason that this model "TR604" has better knob ergonomics, making it easier to use in terms of tuning. For most people, getting used to the DSP tuning system takes a little practice because it's a completely different mechanism (linear variable resistor vs. With an older variable capacitor, you're simply changing the resonance frequency within the tuned circuit for whichever band you've selected) being used to tune to station frequencies, whereas with a variable resistor, you're changing applied voltage to the VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator) within the DSP chip. br>br>When the unit is empty, it has a tendency to tip over on uneven surfaces; however, when it is loaded with three "D" batteries, its weight shifts enough to make it more stable on uneven surfaces.
This is exactly what I needed: excellent sound, plenty of volume, and total portability. It's also well-built! This AM/FM radio is excellent. It's the same as it used to be:.
The stations I listen to the most are about 20 miles away and have been coming in clear and loud. The volume and sound quality of the radio are excellent. I have mine set up outside so I can listen to it while doing yard work or chores. You will not be disappointed if you purchase this radio.
Although it is small and light, it does not give the impression of being cheap. The signal is stable and does not drift, making tuning easy and precise. The tuner is quite sensitive, so it can easily pick up stations from further away. My only gripe is that it can overload and distort on some extremely powerful stations, but I live very close to a transmitter. br>Another feature I like is that the radio can run on batteries or AC power. I prefer the built-in supply to one that requires a wall wort. br>Worth every penny! This is a great gift or for yourself.
It's a good radio station, and it's simple. It could be done by a caveman.
