Questions & Answers

Is this, in fact, a CB radio?

I recently received mine, which covers the entire 12 meter amateur radio band as well as the entire 10 meter amateur radio band, but no OFCOM CB channels. It has excellent 12 and 10 meter reception. It would be nice to hear 11 meter CB from it. However, it is unlikely that it would transmit on the 11 meter CB band, and I have an old CB in my Jeep that I rarely use. If there is a way to reprogramme the radio to receive 11 meters, I do not believe it is worth it. There is a data port on it, so that could be the solution.

Do shortwave car radios require a license?

This was described as a "CB Radio" by one of the commenters below. br>That statement is untrue. br>br>Unmodified, this radio operates on the 10 and 12 meter bands, requiring a General Class amateur license to fully operate. It is not a CB, but an authentic "Ameteur Radio." br>CB, or Citizen's Band, is an 11-meter channelized band that does not require a license and is limited to 20 watts of power. br>br>This radio exceeds the output limits for the Citizen's band, and it is not legal to use on 11 meter (CB) even if you have a license! br>br>It is possible to modify this radio to operate on 11 meter frequencies as well, but this would be in violation of the FCC's type-in regulations. This radio has been tested and certified for the following classifications: To put it another way, it would be illegal and could result in a hefty fine for licensed hams. The Citizen's Band does not benefit from having an amateur license; instead, you should get your ham license.br>br> The free study guides are suitable for people with a reasonable level of intelligence. 3 weeks, and for around $15-$20, they can obtain their General license. It costs $30 and is valid for ten years. If you don't have the time or inclination to do so, just get a CB.

What are the transmission frequencies (Tx)? I just got my general and don't want to waste my money on a radio that can only transmit on a portion of my 10-channel system. priviledges of the meter ?

It only works on the 10 and 12 meter bands. The 11 meter band could be added, but the warranty would be voided. If you purchase the President Lincoln, be sure to purchase a President antenna at the same time to receive the additional 5-year warranty. br>I returned this transceiver before using it, based on reports from others on the Internet that the CW capabilities were lacking. Instead, I took advantage of a special offer on an iCon IC-100. 7300 This will be my first time operating an amateur radio station. On YouTube, there is a lot of coverage. Look up the letters IC- 7300 A to Z 1 is a one-stop shop for everything you need to know about the 7300 The IC- The 7300 can be purchased for $1099 from gigi, with an additional $100 rebate from iCon, bringing the total to $999. I'm hoping this message isn't lost in the shuffle. The President Lincoln is a good value for the money. Simply be aware of your constraints.

Is there a low-power setting on this radio?

The power output is controlled by a knob on the front panel. Power ranges from 5 to 45/50 watts.

If you want a 10-watt radio, this is a great choice

I have to say that while testing as a base station, I didn't care for this radio. My change of heart came after I installed this radio in my car, and I believe my Antron 99 was causing too much noise. So, here's what I like and don't like:br>I like:br>1. When I use it in my car, it's very quiet. The noise level is low. I'm always checking to see if the radio is turned on.
2. The audio is well transmitted. I left my stock on the shelf. There will be no changes.
3. Sensitivity is a wonderful quality to possess. I can recognize a tone at a distance of - 127dbm.
3. In V3, RIT and XIT are included. The XIT feature was not available in non-V3 menus. You can activate either one or both in version 3.
4. The power output was exactly what was expectedbr>5. President was gracious enough to listen to my concerns and speak with me about them.
6. I really like the DIN size; it's perfect. dislikes: br>br>dislikes: br>br>dislikes: br>br>d
1. Instead of seeing the channel number, I prefer to see the frequency in full screen.
2. CW has a few flaws, such as the clipping of the first character sent.
3. The microphone appears to be a little light in weight, but it performs admirably.

I liked it at first, but in the end, I decided to return it

The Bad: br>First and foremost, I've been a HAM for about 7 years and am not a CB operator. Having said that, one of the images for this product repeatedly states, "This is not a CB!" Unfortunately, it appeared to me to work like a CB! br>However, the radio was something I liked. However, instead of dedicated buttons for a Roger Beep or an Echo Effect, I would have preferred buttons for the SWR Meter or almost any other feature embedded in the menu system. br>I found the screen to be a little too retro for my tastes. It's a little difficult to navigate the menus while trying to figure out what's on the screen. I don't understand why using a Grid LED instead of this would have been more expensive. br>Of course, there's more. Instead of Frequencies, we'll use Channels. br>This radio station features bands ranging from A to Z. This radio's "Channel" display is approximately 4 times higher than the "Frequency" display. br>It just felt like it was focusing a little too much on the CB market while ignoring the Ham Operator market, which this radio should technically be marketing as well. The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>br>The Pros: br>b br>Here's why returning it was such a difficult decision. br>On AM, FM, SSB, and CW, the radio produces plenty of power. br>We're in one of the lowest Solar Cycles since radio was invented, and within an hour of turning it on, I had contacts from New York to Georgia. For a built-in speaker, the sound quality is quite good. To be honest, I prefer a system with more dials and fewer menus. br>br>I'm thinking about getting another one. But first, during this low solar cycle, I'd like to get a "Base Station" type radio with more bands available.

Awesome! Radio is fantastic! I've had it for about a month and am still discovering new features, some of which aren't documented in the manual
5/5

I added an extra channel to include 11m. It's a simple mod that doesn't remove 10m or 12m from the band menu, but it does add another band to the band menu. Tuning is now available starting at 24 o'clock. Between 710 and 30. It has a frequency of 110 MHz and can be tuned in as low as. By moving the cursor under the readout to the desired space and then turning the dial in 1 KHz increments, the tuning dial can be adjusted in 1 KHz increments. (This isn't mentioned in the manual. ) br> The sound produced by the TX is crystal clear. People mistakenly believe the mic is inexpensive because it is lightweight; DO NOT BE FOOLED! This is an electret condenser mic with a dual filter tuned specifically for it. Switching microphones is not a good idea. It's unlike any other microphone on the market, and it won't work with the radio's tuned circuit. If you really need a heavy mic, hot glue some fishing weights to this one, which is what the other mics have. br>There's no need to modify the clarifier because it's already unlocked. It's even better than unlocked because it's a menu item with four options: off, rx only, tx only, or both rx and tx. This is a feature I've never seen on any radio, including modded radios. Every time you press the key, SWR appears on the screen. When you turn on the radio, the frequency counter changes to an SWR counter. It has high SWR protection and a menu item that allows you to turn it on or off as well as set the step down level. This thing has everything! br> br>Well, almost all of them. The bottom firing speaker is one of the only two things I dislike about it. Get it out of your system as soon as possible. Is merely occupying cabinet space. In any case, the only way it works is if it's mounted overhead. I removed mine in the hopes that having more airflow through the open holes will help with cooling. Make sure you have a good external. There's nothing to be concerned about. br>Do you want to know what the big deal is? There isn't a single direct entry keypad in sight. This thing would be perfect if it had a keypad on the mic.
