The talk out timer on this radio is three minutes. When you let go of the PTT button after 3 minutes, it will stop transmitting. The answer can be found in the user guide.
There is a scan mode on it. This radio has a lot of nice features, but it's not very good. I read a lot of positive reviews before making my decision. I wish I had chosen a different option. If you ask me, it was a complete waste of $100.
Any compatible CB Radio Antenna (the taller the better) is required, and you can splice on an optional lighter plug to power it from an accessory outlet if desired. br> While an SWR meter isn't required, it will help you "fine tune" the antenna if you use one.
With the slide in mount, it measures about 9" deep, 6" wide, and 2" high. It's a very small unit, which is one of the reasons we bought it. It has excellent reception, as well as a good transmission range. This is the third President Bill we've bought for our trucks, and they've all performed admirably. We have radios in a pickup, a medium-duty service truck, and a tractor, all of which work fine with different antennas.

When paired with a good and well-placed antenna, this is an excellent radio packed with essential features that provides excellent reception and transmit right out of the box. The Auto Squelch (ASC) mode is particularly impressive. br>br>Despite the fact that it's fantastic right out of the box- To fully utilize the capabilities of this radio, set the power level to maximum. (For more information, see the section below. ) According to FCC rules and regulations, this radio has a power output of 5 watts. This radio is actually tuned to 2 when it leaves the factory to ensure compliance. wattage ranges from 75 to 3 watts If you want to give it the maximum amount of power to transmit- 5 watts to 5 watts- To do so, follow these steps: 1. br>br> Check to see if the radio is turned off.
2. At the same time, press the "CB/WX/Alert" and "EMG" buttons, as well as the "PTT" (push to talk on the mic). br>3. If you press all three buttons at the same time, you'll get the best results. Turn on the radiobr>(On the radio screen, you'll see a sort of ADMIN display- "PL 127" or something along those lines. br>(This is the LEVEL OF POWER. )
4. Now- Push on the top edge of the screen to change channels or scan, and this number will increase or decrease depending on whether you push on the top or bottom edge of the screen. br>Continue pushing until "PL 145" appears. I spent about a month looking at different CB radios before settling on this one. Because the space in my vehicle was/is limited, I knew I needed something small but with certain features. I'll go over each one separately below. br>br>The thing is about the size of a pack of cigarettes or a small block of cheese; it's TINY. A mounting bracket is included and can be used to mount this almost anywhere. br>br>It has a very loud speaker. You'd think that the speaker would lack punch because it's so small, but you'd be wrong. I've used this thing while speeding down the highway during a particularly violent thunderstorm, and I was able to crank it up loud enough to be heard over it. This device has two features that I believe every CB should have (though some do not): br>br> a weather radio and a scan function Given that CB isn't as popular as it once was, you'll almost certainly need to use scan to locate transmissions. When you're traveling, a weather radio is extremely useful. There are even weather alerts, though they don't appear to work properly. When I turn them on, they switch to the weather channel at random, even if there isn't any talk of severe weather. br>br>The construction quality is excellent. This thing feels like a brick in your hand, and it's mostly made of metal, so breaking it would take extreme care. br>br>The automatic squelch control works for the most part, though it occasionally allows incredibly weak transmissions to pass through that are nothing but static. br>br>Overall, I'm very pleased with this, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who doesn't want their CB to take up a lot of space but still wants almost every feature possible. For the sake of brevity, I didn't go into detail about a lot of things.
For a Jeep, this is the ideal radio. Very nice CB, perfect size, and perfect communications after I set the SWR on a Fire Fly Antenna. I can't get over how big it is; it fits perfectly in the center console. Filters and a nouse blanker with auto squelch are useful additional features. Additionally, there is a USB charger. The radio is very nice. I'm a ham radio operator, so I bought this just for fun. This is a fantastic piece of gear.
I couldn't seem to find a small CB that would fit in my Jeep JK. Even the Cobra 75 appeared to be too large for a neat installation. I figured I'd give Bill FCC a shot. It all came together beautifully. Even the mic, which is mounted on the console, keeps everything out of the way; there is no interference with either shifter, and there is no mic. Always in the way is the cable. Using an FL4-based Firestick SS3-compliant B antenna A Hustler SSM-M spring and an M spring 2 mount. CB appears to be a capable player. After tuning the antenna, the SWR is around 1. There's one on channel 20 and about one. 7 on one of the channels Connect it to the 12V switched power connector, which is located just above it. When the ignition and power are turned off, the channel setting is retained. Automatic Squelch Control (ASC) isn't as good as manually setting it, but it seems adequate, especially as a 'wife setting' when she's in the Jeep and I'm in the motorhome, because she doesn't have the inclination to fiddle with the squelch all the time. Weather radio reception appears to be particularly good, with more stations being received than on my previous Uniden. While it may lack the power and performance of a larger radio, given the limited space available in a Jeep JK, I believe it is an excellent compromise. The only real drawback is that the built-in speaker is very small and can be difficult to understand; however, I would buy it again.
CB is a fantastic little guy! This is my first CB radio, so I'm a novice here, but from what I've seen, this unit appears to be excellent. I spent days looking for CBs before finding this one. All of the others on the market are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too big for I didn't want a big box taking up too much room in my truck. This is the smallest unit I could find, and it works perfectly. I used it with a 2ft firestik and while my swr readings were very high, the setup still worked great. I went on a weeklong 4x4 trip with a buddy and our comms worked perfectly the entire time. br>br>For its size, the speaker is quite loud, and the only time it was difficult to hear was when I was driving at 70 mph down the highway with the windows down. Aside from that, it's a perfect volume. I'll order a new one if this one fails.
Like the small size, colors available for the display, channel scanning but on a meter it puts out on 75% of available legal power but on% That's 3 watts of power. They keep it at an unreasonably low level in order for it to pass FCC inspections as it enters the country from Barcelona, Spain. Furthermore, there are no adjustments available inside the board's cover; all adjustments were made at the factory using software.
