The sensitivity is good, and the signal/noise ratio is good. br>This is a well-built and well-thought-out device. br>It should suffice if you need to record a lecture. Unfortunately, there is no built-in functionality to detect when the battery is low and shut down recording. If a battery dies, you'll only get a 9MB or so file with 9 minutes of recording, no matter how long you record. br>As a result, you must be present and turn off the camera before the battery runs out. br>As a result, it's essentially useless for my needs.

Sony had proprietary software for extracting sound files, but it is no longer compatible with Windows. This device will make a direct recording to the file *. wav or *. MP3 is a digital audio file. The sound quality is excellent. br>br> There are even some "modes" that allow you to adjust the input sensitivity for different recording scenarios (e. g. , teleconference, dictation, and so on). It's also very easy to use. br>br>The one stumbling block I encountered was deciding when to start recording. This isn't a quick fix. You may have to wait several seconds for recording to begin after turning on the device, which means this is a bad choice if you want to record children or birds, for example, because by the time it starts recording, the sound you want may have vanished! br>br>I'm not sure why the recorder was built in this manner. It looks like there's a problem with the initialization. It just takes a little while for the recorder software to get up and running. I contacted the manufacturer to see if there was a workaround, but received no response. I believe the issue has been identified - It's mentioned in other reviews, as well. br>br>It's fine for my needs. For the quality and everything else, the price cannot be beat. Just keep in mind that recording does not begin immediately. It will perform admirably if you turn it on well before you need to record something, such as a conference call.

I purchased this product and it just arrived today, and I can say that it is DEFINITELY a solid device that can give you $300 recorder quality (if you know how to use it). br>The recorder's speaker is more than adequate for playing back the vocal recordings I've made - It can also double as an MP3 player if you want, but I would recommend using the line out to a speaker to listen to music because the unit's speaker isn't really designed for music. The battery life is excellent (the best I've seen). Using the built-in microphone or the line-in, the recording quality is also excellent.
