Questions & Answers

What makes this model different from the PA03656-? B005?

The only difference is that the B005 includes Adobe Acrobat Standard (not the most recent version), whereas the B305 includes a Nuance software package.

Is it possible to scan 11x17 sheets with this scanner?

I have an iX500 with a plastic carrier sheet that came with it. To scan an 11x17 document, simply fold it in half and wrap it around the carrier sheet. I'm not sure if these carrier sheets are included with the iX1500.

I wish I had known about this when I first began digitizing my office! After digitizing my entire office, I was tired of waiting for my previous scanner (an all-in-one) to arrive

one) to complete the task at hand After a year of dozing off while waiting for things to scan, I finally purchased this one. This scanner isn't going to let you down. I have a Mac and use the software that came with it. I was almost in tears because I was so happy to have it scan, index, and save over 1500 pages in under an hour. I finished everything so quickly that I had no idea what to do with myself! It didn't eat any pages (they were really soft paper, not regular paper), it didn't skip any pages, and the auto-save function worked perfectly. look for dark-colored objects color vs. black-and-white vs. black-and-white vs. blank- pages is a fantastic resource. I wish I had purchased this scanner sooner so that I could have avoided a year of excruciatingly slow scanning. It had no trouble sucking in very hard paper (such as a cover) and then switching back to soft paper of a different size, and it cropped everything nicely. I really like this scanner. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> ADDITIONAL COMMENT: On the front of the machine, there is a "catch all that paper tray. " Another reviewer pointed it out to me, and I carefully examined the front panel (the one that flips down), which is flush with the tray itself, so I would have never noticed it. The issue has been resolved! I documented it with a photograph. I think I'll go ahead and clean it up. )br>br>ORIGINAL COMMENT SAID "The only thing I'd say could be better is the "out" tray. " Another flip is required. Up your lip to catch the paper as it comes out; otherwise, it will pop off and spill all over your desk. When all of the paper had come out, I simply rested my hand in front of the tray. The paper rubs against my fingers, then re-rubs against them. stacks on top of itself I tried using a coffee mug and a box of Kleenex to keep it from falling off, but it just slides up, making the situation worse.

This scanner is truly incredible
5/5

Opinion of an IT administrator who believes that all scanners are useless. I can't say enough good things about this scanner, so here are a few highlights: 1. br>br> It's a hard worker. This scanner has kept up with us as we've been digitizing our entire paper archive of about 500 sheets PER DAY. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br It's a thoughtful device, and when you scan as much as we do, minor annoyances can add up quickly. The person who designed this thing considered all of the minor annoyances and eliminated the majority of them. I like how the unit recovers from jams and recognizes which pages should be kept and which should be discarded. I like how the one-of-a-kind one-of-a-kind one When I press the touch scan button, it recognizes that I want to start and stop scanning. That means I won't have to use the PC software to get back into the game. It is true that the device is self-contained. auto-straighten auto-, contrast side, automatic side, automatic the direction of travel It's difficult to make a scan go wrong. Even better, the scanning engine can detect and contrast ink/toner bleed through from one side of a page to the other. Wow! 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. It's relatively simple to clean and maintain. There will be a small amount of debris in the scanner after 500 pages. The eject button and fold out top are well-designed so that gently blowing out particles and cleaning the top and bottom scan heads is simple. There is no need for any special equipment. It's difficult to make a mistake in this situation. 4. br>br> Scanning to searchable PDF is a fantastic way to go. I'm a big fan of what you've done so far. The OCR module does an excellent job of scanning text and making it searchable in a PDF document. This is exactly what we've been looking for. Pro tip: If you're using Windows and want to use Windows Search to look for text in PDFs, you'll need to download Adobe's PDF iFilter app and install it on every computer that needs to search the PDFs, not just the server or workstation where the PDFs are stored. Installing the iFilter should enable Windows Search to search the entire PDF rather than just the file properties. br>br>However, there are a few niggles: 4. br>br> The installation of software is cumbersome and necessitates numerous updates. The person who created the installer/updater wasn't nearly as considerate as the person who created the hardware. To get the software online, it takes about 30 minutes of downloading, installing, and updating, which is ridiculous. Simply include the updates in the most recent installer to make it easier for those of us who are purchasing later rather than earlier. 5. br>br> Also clumsy is the app software itself. The SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING THIS SCANNER MUST DO RIGHT IS SCAN TO SEARCHABLE PDF. To accomplish this, I had to disable all "quick button" features and change the app's scanning mode to application: Place the file in a folder and save it. I select the folder, and I no longer interact with the software. I simply load documents into the scanner, press the blue button, and leave. 6. br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br> Wi- Because of the poor installer, wi-fi setup is clumsy and difficult. Wi- This unit's wi-fi should be one of its best features, but due to the inept software, it's a pain to set up. In addition, I had difficulty keeping this device connected to my UniFi mesh wi-fi network. wi-fi network The scanner's wi-fi is occasionally thrown off when the UniFi changes the channel of a specific SSID. After that, I'll have to go into the software and configure the wireless network. fi again. Each time I make a change to the UniFi access points' configuration or restart them, I must repeat the process. It's a bit of a letdown. Overall, this strange little box has saved us a great deal of time and aggravation. The best part is that I demoed it before some scanning/archiving company offered us $10,000 to do our scanning work for us, and their demo system performed far worse than this little scanner. They took a step back, embarrassed. That's one of my favorite things to do with bad companies:.

Scanners of high quality
5/5

We have seven of these scanners, one on each of my team's desks in my law firm and one at my home office, and they help us save a lot of paper by scanning documents brought in by clients and returning them to them. I use it at home to run two rental businesses as well as a construction firm. All of the businesses previously generated mountains of paperwork to organize and file; these scanners reduce filing time, saving money and tedium for my employees, as well as filing cabinets and floor space. These scanners are quick and simple to set up and operate. A document can be scanned more quickly than it can be shred. The documents are scanned to pdf and then stored as electronic files (on-site on a dual-core hard drive and off-site in cloud storage). They scan in both color and duplex mode automatically. The first ones were purchased in November 2013, and three years later, they are still going strong. The last two were purchased in January of 2016, and this one in October of that year. br>br>September 2017 update. One of the ones I bought in November of 2013 has recently passed away. I'm going to get another one. For the money, ease of use, and convenience, I believe that was a good run time.
