To connect to the internet, you must first register with HP and Instant Ink. This appears to necessitate a credit card number as well as a monthly subscription. For a printer that costs nearly $200, this is unacceptable.
Joining the HP Program to install your printer is a lot of fun. I've set up this printer five times now, and it always says that the setup is incomplete and that the printer will not print unless web services and other items are turned off in the printer window. The printer is always offline; the only way to bring it online is to select one of the HP ink programs during installation, after which the printer will install and function. By doing so, HP is enslaving the customer. Either you pay for their service or you are unable to complete the installation. br>I paid to join HP's ink program after the installation was completed. I chose a simple image to print. The entire image was a bluish hue. The printer kept requesting that the print heads be cleaned and that an alignment page be printed. I printed two photos, ten alignment pages, and possibly three test pages. I had to clean the printer heads several times. The colors in the last color photograph I printed were horribly off (cartoonish). I even double-checked that I had placed the correct color cartridge in the correct location. (I did). The photos I'm printing are 5 by 7 inches in size. There isn't much ink on the page. Then my printer tells me that I'm out of ink and that I need to buy more. You've got to be kidding! What a huge rip-off. br>I've always shopped for HP items. After this experience, I will seriously consider purchasing equipment from other vendors, including printers, desktops, and all of my laptops. PS: The printer has been reboxed and returned to HP! Now I need to figure out how to cancel the ink program I had to enroll in, and then I need to find a different printer brand. Other people haven't said much about this yet, which I find surprising. They do it on the bulletin boards! br>br>I tried to give it 0 stars, but I couldn't help myself and had to choose one!.
I've been trying to connect for 5 hours, watching every video and following every instruction, and I'm completely frustrated. I'm prepared to hand it back. I received it the day before yesterday. Normally, I'd assume it's me, but even the HP online doctor is stumped on this one!.
THIS IS A FAKE WEBSITE. The person who came up with this idea should be fired by HP. Simply to set up the printer, you must enroll in the InstaInk program. I spent two hours on the phone with HP Support trying to get this printer set up. The only way it would work was if I signed up and gave my credit card information. When I cancelled two days later, it said I'd be charged for a month of service. For two days? Make a call to number 2 to get this taken care of. The following day, I received an email stating that the ink had arrived. The printer ceased to print a day later. Call 3 for a workaround so you can print again. 70% of his calls are for this specific model, the gentleman I spoke to said. WOW! Corporate was notified by Support, but they have yet to respond. What a great way to reward your loyal customers.
To use this printer, you do not need to create an HP account. There's a great YouTube video that walks you through setting it up and skipping the subscription process step by step. The only drawback was that I couldn't use my Mac to download the app because it requires version 10. Software version 14 or higher is required. That's something I wish I'd known sooner. However, on my phone, it works. br>It prints quickly and I haven't had any issues thus far.
When I opened the box, the instruction booklet had already been torn open, indicating that my printer was obviously a return from someone else. I really wanted to like this printer, but I'm pretty sure I got a bad one and had to ask for a replacement. The printer thinks the tray is open (it isn't), so I have to open and close it every time I turn it on. It also never got past the "printing the alignment page" screen and displays an error message. I had no issues connecting it to my wifi, laptop, or phone; the printer, however, was a pain. After 30 minutes with an Amazon support representative named Decordia and nearly 2 hours on my own, I decided to submit a request for a replacement. My previous HP printers were simple to set up and use, and I was printing within minutes. When I get a new one in three days, I'll update my review. ***Update on 4/5br>br>I received my replacement printer and am now a happy customer, but I will still need to get another printer to print higher quality images. If you want it for business use and need crisp, clear sharp images, this one does not cut it. The images are a little fuzzier than I'd like, but the speed and connection are excellent; the double-sided printing feature is flawless, and I was able to connect to my Cricut for a cut-and-print project with no problems.
Except for skipping the option to pay for cartridges, I did everything correctly. As a result, the message was always "incomplete set up. " 'I even took Tylenol as a stress reliever. ' I called the agent twice, and the second time the person who answered was able to assist me. The issue arose simply as a result of my failure to pay for the cartridges. The noise level is higher than expected. br>br> Since it's 2021, I'd prefer it to be quieter. br>br>Printing in full color took a long time. the color black The white print was standard; there was nothing new about it (as with the model from 5 years ago).
Buying your own ink is a good idea. br>I still had over 5,000 rollover pages and ink in my printer. INK CARTRIDGES ARE CHIPPED, so it's obviously a waste.
