Questions & Answers

Is there a regular toner cartridge included, or a small starter one that will need to be replaced soon?

It's not a starter cartridge, so don't expect it to work right away. It includes a standard 58A cartridge with a 3000 page yield.

Is it possible to give this printer an ip address on my home network and then turn it on and off without the printer losing its ip address?

Yes, a static IP address will be assigned to you.

Is the number of pages supported by the cartridge that came with it the same for replacement cartridges?

The M404dw's 58A toner cartridge has a page yield of 3000 pages. That's the same amount of pages as the replacements.

Sharp, quick, and two-dimensional printing on both sides in a business-like manner group of people Replacement toners are prohibitively expensive
4/5

I've been in the IT industry for more than 17 years (and even longer as the "family computer guy"), and I've seen a lot of printers: Canon, Lexmark, Epson, Brother, Konica, HP, Ricoh, and others each have their own set of advantages and disadvantages. However, there is one thing that all of these individuals have in common: HP is the most widely used company in the world, and with good reason! So, how does the HP LJ Pro M404dw monochrome (black and white-only printing) perform? That's pretty good! br>br>IN A NUTSHELLbr>In a nutshell, the newest addition to the LaserJet Pro line of printers produces sharp, fast, two-sided printing. printing on both sides in a business-like manner security and features of the class Replacement toners are expensive, but they can print a lot of pages. PEM/Base64 encoded and signed onesbr>- Email Notificationsbr>- When a certain threshold is reached (default: 1 minute), you can be notified. br>- Cartridge is missing, empty, or low in stockbr>- Open door, mismatched media, paper jam, no paperbr>- Problems with job storage memory, such as a USB device that has been disconnected and is running out of memorybr>- Rules for the Firewallbr>- Built-in firewall with rule priority, address and service templates, and service list configurationbr>- Failsafe option where HTTPS remains accessible even if it is blocked by a firewall policy (to prevent an administrator from being locked out accidentally)br>- Communication that is securebr>- It is possible to enable/disable cipher suites, SSL/TLS protocols, and HTTPS redirection. br>- v1/v2 and v3 are two SNMP options. br> ACL: An IPv4- To control printer access, only the access control list is available. br>- Authentication (one time): PEAP and EAP are two acronyms that stand for "peace, equality, and TLS protocols can be used. br>- To prevent theft, Cartridge Protection locks a toner cartridge to a specific printer. br>- It is not possible to use a protected cartridge in a different printer. br>- On that cartridge, the lock can't be undone. It is permanentbr>br>Overall, this is a high-quality, business-oriented printer, as are most HP printers. With the speed and sharpness that the LaserJet Pro series is known for, this is a first-class product. The safety features are a pleasant surprise! I prefer the HP M404dw (WiFi) model (priced at $50). Although the HP M404dn (USB/wired network) model is $100 more expensive than the HP M404dn (USB/wired network), the HP M404dn (USB/wired network) model is still a good buy, especially at the current $219 price. br>br>If you found this review helpful, please click the "Helpful" button below to encourage me to write more reviews. I wish I didn't have to use this printer
3/5

I was adamant about not purchasing a new printer. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank It was fine until a few internal frame parts snapped, rendering it unfixable. br>br>All right, let's get started. Now I'm the proud owner of a new printer. The 4000's footprint is slightly smaller, and the print speed is significantly faster. It took a little longer than it should have to make sure I got the "DN" model instead of just the "N," but it all worked out in the end. br>br>I'm still hoping I won't have to buy a new printer. But, if I absolutely must have one, this one will suffice. EDIT: br>br> OR NOT. Unlike its (fantastic) predecessor, this printer appears to use "chipped" toner cartridges that are more expensive than the **** printer. I've already purchased a replacement (not for the cartridge, but for the printer). I'm still trying to figure out whether the printer can be returned or if I should recycle it. In any case, I've purchased my final HP.

CARTS WITH CHIP IN TONER - RIPOFF
3/5

The printer works fine, but the toner carts have a stupid chip in them, which means you'll be overcharged for toner. Even switching the chip to a new cart won't fix the problem because the printer will eventually stop printing if the toner runs out. br>br>Hp is a bit shady.

Setting up a wireless network takes a lot of time
3/5

If you actually followed the inadequate instructions provided, the predecessor to this unit, the 402, was virtually impossible to set up wirelessly. After vowing never to buy HP products again, I purchased this because another reviewer claimed it was simple to set up. The setup is the same as it has been in the past, with shoddy software and instructions that don't work. How to do it: br>br> Connect the printer to your wifi network via the printer's "touch screen"; it's a pain, but it's doable. br>2- Obtain the application – The instructions direct you to one of several sources for drivers, but it does not include the m404 3. This is the most important thing to remember: use a cable to connect to the printer, then run the setup software - Remove the cable after you've configured it with the cable connection, and it should work.

I'm a dealer, so best of luck with the software
3/5

In the new Windows 10 1809, good luck with the software on this printer. When you use it, your computer will stall for 2 or 3 minutes for the print screen, and then another 2 or 3 minutes for printing. You can manually install the pcl driver if you download it, and it will not stall. There has been a known issue with previous versions of Windows, including Windows 1803. For a simple black and white laser printer, we shouldn't have to deal with this issue in Windows 10.

DON'T GET CAUGHT UP IN IT - THIS PRINTER IS A TOTAL FAILURE! On the advice of our IT support team, I purchased this printer for my boss
3/5

Here's what the boss has to say: br>br>I purchased this printer because I print a large number of documents on a daily basis. I've had nothing but problems since the beginning. We had to pay our IT guy for at least two trips to the office and numerous remote sessions trying to fix things (which they fixed temporarily) in addition to the cost of the new printer. From the start, this was a lemon! br>br>The first thing it did was print garbage across the top of the page for pages and pages (no document. . . just garbage). To get it to stop, I had to open the paper drawer! Then it started giving me errors whenever I added paper (and sometimes for no apparent reason). If it wasn't adjusted, it wouldn't print. After our IT guy returned from his third visit today, the printer was reset to its factory defaults, which print double-sided. again! I need to go into the settings and change the default to single-sided printing. . . . every time I print a document (e-mail, etc. ) documents or e-mail). Over the course of my 25 years as a lawyer, I have never had such a bad experience with a printer. If I could bill HP for the time I spent dealing with this printer, I'd be a millionaire! We pay for a new printer, we pay to have it repaired – but only temporarily – and we pay for the time spent dealing with the useless printer! And each time it is "fixed," the printing time increases – which was one of the reasons I purchased the printer in the first place! br>br>Following this experience, I will never buy another HP product!.
