Questions & Answers

Is it able to copy and scan?

The previous response, "Copies but does not scan," is incorrect. The iP8720 does not have scan capability, according to both the printer and the user manual. It's just a printer. There isn't a fax machine, a scanner, or a copier in sight. You'll need a different machine if you want to scan and copy; the iP8720's main benefit is for large-scale printing. Printing in large format (up to 13" by 19"). You'd be much better off with a standard-format all-in-one if you don't require that capability. one.

Is the PIXMA i8720 capable of printing on cardstock? My current printer murders card stock, which I run a very small greetings card business. ?

The heaviest paper we've used is Strathmore's 140 lb paper. Greeting cards and postcards are also printed by us. Canson Stamping Cards (which beats Strathmore's inket offerings hands-down) is the best paper we've found for iP8720 direct printing, aside from drymounting photo paper to card stock (whose photo quality absolutely cannot be beat). down; Dick Blick's website was where we found it). I'm not sure if Canson discloses the weight of this particular product, but it's most likely around 110 pounds.

Where do you put the 11x17 paper to be fed? Is it okay if it goes in the tray underneath or if it has to go on top? And, if it's on the top, how many sheets can it hold so I'm not stuck babysitting a print job all day?

Paper should be loaded. (1) Pull out the paper support after it has been opened. (2) Gently lift up the front cover. Importantbr> Close the disc tray guide (A) if it is open. br> br>(3) Remove the output tray from the printer. (4) Open the paper guides (B) by sliding them open, then load the paper in the center of the rear tray WITH THE PRINT SIDE FACING YOU. br>(5) Align the paper guides (B) with both sides of the paper stack by sliding them back and forth. br>If the paper guides are slid too far, the paper may not be properly fed. br> br> Importantbr> Always load the paper in portrait mode (C). Paper jams can occur when paper is loaded in the landscape orientation (D).
NOTE: This printer produces excellent copies and is of high quality. If you need a production printer to make a large number of copies, you should go to a copy store and have them do it for you. This is the place to go if you're looking for a few special prints. I believe the maximum number of copies that can be loaded at once is around 25.

The "ink bundle" does not include a full set of ink cartridges, which is a shame because the printer is great
4/5

Everything you'd expect from a printer is present: (I'm a photographer, so I'm picky) Reliable and excellent prints It's fairly quick, and the wireless capabilities are excellent. There aren't any issues, and it's a great large-screen television. Canon should make a large-format printer. BUT, I should mention that I paid an extra $55 for the "ink kit" option, which included a set of extra ink cartridges. THIS MUST NOT BE DONE. While the "extra" ink kit will fit the 8720m, two inks are missing: The grey and the small black. It's entirely my fault; I didn't pay close enough attention to the box on the page, but what you see is exactly what you get: There are four, not six, ink carts. I've informed Amazon that the kit does not include the entire correct set of carts (though the ones that are included work fine), so we'll see if they make any changes. Until they figure it out, just order the printer without the kit. The printer came with a full set of ink cartridges in the box, so it was ready to use right away, and I now have a few spares, but not one of each.

Wow! I am taken aback! First and foremost, I'd like to state that I recently had to retire my Canon Pro9000 Mark II printer (purchased in 2012) due to a printhead failure
5/5

I searched online for a compatible replacement printhead after multiple cleanings were ineffective, and it appears that they are only available from Chinese parts dealers. As a result, I went online to Amazon to look for a new printer. br>br>At first, I was thinking of the Canon Pro 100, which is rumored to be the successor to the Pro9000s. After that, I began reading reviews of the IP 8750. The majority of the negative reviews, it seemed to me, were about the wireless connectivity, which people were constantly complaining about. DO NOT be deterred from trying this printer because of the negative reviews about the wireless feature. I followed the directions in the box and had a working wireless connection in under 2 minutes (no exaggeration).

Regarding print quality, my professional rating for the prints rendered by this printer is 95% accuracy
Regarding print quality, my professional rating for the prints% I've done a lot of color and black and white drawings. We tested prints on a variety of papers, and the color reproduction is truly remarkable. For the price, the IP 8750 produces much better prints than I expected. According to some of the reviews, this printer is actually better than the Pro 100 in terms of print quality. That's something I'm not sure about. However, based on my previous experience, I believe this is true. br>br>In a few months, I'll post a follow-up edit.

If you want exact color, don't buy it
3/5

Do not purchase this if you are a photographer or a graphic designer. Canon paper icc profiles are nowhere to be found. They're supposed to come with the driver, but I can't seem to find them on my computer. After doing some research, I discovered that others have experienced the same issue. Canon does not allow you to download them from their website, and I have attempted to contact customer service without success. You can't get accurate color without icc profiles. This is completely absurd. I'm not going to buy another Canon printer.

I've never despised a printer as much as I do now
3/5

For years, I've been purchasing Canon printers. This has to be the worst printer they've ever produced. Where do I begin? My wireless connection is incredibly shaky. My printer is about a foot away from my wireless router. 70% of the time when I try to print, the printer is unreachable, or it will print one page then become unreachable, or it can be reached from one device but not from% Net- It's nearly impossible to print something when you need it on the internet. What else is there to say? Oh, and if the front panel is closed on most Canon printers, when you print something, it gracefully opens it for you and prints. This is not the case. To start printing, you must walk down to the printer and manually open the front panel. It comes in five different ink colors: blue, cyan, yellow, black, and grey. The grey - which is not included in the replacement ($47) - is not included. That's a different order, and it'll cost you an additional $13! I've had mine for about two months and believe that once this ink pack runs out, we'll have to throw it out and start over.

Prosumer system that is excellent
5/5

UPDATE: December 22nd, 2018: Finally, the printer gave up - Nonetheless, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We printed a TON of material - tens of thousands There are thousands of 4x6's, hundreds of 13x19's, and tens of thousands of 5x7 to 11x14's. Over the life of the printer, we used 139, 251XL cartridges with no problems; the print head failed, which is replaceable, but due to the volume on our original, we decided to buy another IP 8270 system. In addition, we have a Pro- 100, but after almost four years with the 8720, you should save your money. There is no discernible difference in quality, and the 8270 takes up far less space and weighs considerably less. br>br>UPDATE (February 14, 2016): Since purchasing the printer in February 2014, we've printed nearly 1200 images (the majority of which are 11x14). 13x19), and the cost per square inch has been calculated to be $0. 007 to a dollar As a result, the cost of ink per 13x19 is $1 (assuming you buy 251 XL ink exclusively from Amazon). 79 to $2. The average cost of Canon Luster paper is $0. 69 ink cartridges per 13x19 sheet for a total of 69 ink cartridges. $2 for the paper 48 to $2. In a 13x19 format, 90 people can be accommodated. If you add another dollar for equipment wear and tear, a 13x19 will cost you less than $4 in the worst-case scenario. We go through the following steps for each PGBK cartridge: Three BKs, eight GYs, six Cs, seven Ms, and twelve Ys are on the list. Advantages: br>br> Excellent print quality, low cost, color management, ease of use, and a large print area are all advantages of this printer. REVIEW: br>br> br>In general, we're pleased with this printer. We are a prosumer customer who have owned a number of photo-related products. Over the last 13 years, HP has produced high-quality printers and multifunction printers. br>br>Quality is excellent, and speed is average to fast. Despite the fact that I suspect high- It helps a lot if the papers are good (the Canon photo papers mentioned below are excellent). The ink droplets are extremely small, the tiniest I've ever seen in any system. Also, the color blending is fantastic - Take a look at the Bluebird illustration as an example. Images in grayscale are also very good - Much better than HP printers that only use one black cartridge. We ran water over the alignment page, which caused the black to bleed a little. blue was not one of them. After that, we sprayed both a full-size and a half-size Neither the color nor the grayscale image bled, and after the print dried, no streaks or issues were visible. br>br>We did notice that the images were a little warm when they were printed; Take a look at the example photos once more. Although this is attractive in many photographs, it created a problem when we attempted to print photographs of fall foliage - However, Photoshop makes it simple to fix. br>br>A &amp W images came out a little dark - However, unlike other systems I've owned, it isn't so dark that detail is lost. br>br>Two points of view - One, the wireless was a bit of a pain, but we were able to work around it because of our configuration. We eventually settled on USB connectivity because of the speed and print volume. Second, there's a lot of plastic, which I'm not against if done properly, as it is in most products these days. The chassis is sturdy and well-made, but the extendable paper guides/flaps for holding sheets as they are fed and exited could be better designed. I'm not sure how long they'll last, given the dust concerns and the opening/closing of the system. UPDATE 2/14/16: No problems after two years. br>br>TYPES OF PAPER TESTED: Canon Platinum Pro 8. 5x11, Luster 13x19, and Plus Gloss II 4x6 are the sizes available. UPDATE (February 14, 2016): I recently tried the Moab Slickrock 300 Metallic paper and was blown away. It's the same as having Metallic prints made at a photo lab. The paper is extremely delicate and easily chips or scratches, but the quality is excellent for do-it-yourself projects at home. To protect the print, place it behind glass after it has had a day or two to breathe. br>br>Update for 2018 - We've also used the printer to print a few rolls of Epson canvas (which we then stretched ourselves). Make sure the canvas is perfectly flat, with no roll at the edges or the print head will rub; however, if done properly, it works and produces excellent results! & POST- WORKING WITH DATA: Windows 7 and Windows 8 are supported. 1 (now Win 10) systems with USB printers, capable of printing from both Photoshop and Illustrator Lightroom CC is a cloud-based photo editing software. br>br>TESTING SCENARIObr>In general, we use minimal post-processing, attempting to maintain a realistic image and using HDR only when necessary. Following the arrival of the Canon iP8720 from B, We printed a wide range of color and grayscale photos that had been post-processed on three types of Canon paper in February 2014. br>br>PRODUCT PHOTOS were taken with a T1i, 10-megapixel camera. 22, no post-production (our photos can be found in the picture gallery/product photos gallery, which is located at the top of this page). (mostly on the page's left side). br>br>THE PRODUCT WAS TESTED WITH PRINTED PHOTOS OF LIGHTNING IN FLORIDA (B). Iowa-grown flowers; Badlands National Park, Iowa/Wisconsin fall colors, and Yellowstone National Park's mountain bluebird. Yosemite National Park, Death Valley National Park, and Grand Teton National Park are among the other parks photographed for testing but not shown.
