Questions & Answers

Would you say it's reasonably quiet, and what is the key pressure like. Is it light, medium, or firm?

Because it is manual, the striker arms make some noise, but since we only use it occasionally, the noise isn't too distracting. It does not require much pressure to operate the keys, and I would rate them as very light to medium pressure. I have a cordless computer keyboard, but these are easier to press.

What if I used this to write a book?

In terms of keyboard feel, it is a comfortable typing machine, though I believe that there is only one line of memory for correction purposes. Thus, when it comes to writing something as extensive as a book, I would prefer to use a computer. My WPT is in the mail We have 150 thank you notes to do and 150 forms to fill out. Computer is my main tool for keeping records and working on long projects. If and when I ever have to replace my Sears Communicator II from 1985, this typewriter will be my replacement.

Could you tell me what kind of paper you can use?

It works fine on a heavy bond 24 pound paper 98 white Imageprint multiuse and it's rated at 8 points. Five by eleven and even eight by ten inch sheets are available. There are times when five x fourteen will do. Any 8 would be fine. You can use 5" x 11" paper, but your correspondence will stand out more on a heavier bond paper. A regular thin piece of paper looks cheap in comparison, and we need every bit of Give it a try. Please click here for Alan's bio

Is it possible for me to get my money back if I don't like it?

You cannot read what you write when no one can read it
5/5

As my handwriting has been affected for many years, I needed a means of communicating with the world without the use of computers. Having tossed our old typewriter, we removed the WPT from the junkyard The 150 fits the bill and serves the purpose.

Typewriter model WP 150 by Nakijima
5/5

The fact that I only have a tablet makes this really appealing to me My PC is no longer in use. It is necessary to type certain things. Paying $220 is what I did. I bought it before Christmas because it was on sale, which is okay, but it makes me feel bad. If you try to remove the styrofoam underneath the writer, you will never be able to get it out! So take your time and open up the top of the writer before you begin typing. Initially, I was afraid of putting too much pressure on the lid and could not lift it up. In the end, he lifted up, & As long as I was able to remove the stafofoam, I was able to remove it. The manual that is included with it should be read. Another reviewer complained about the quality of the ink when he was sent When I did that before I read the instruction manual, I obtained error code 37. The problem was caused by not removing the plastic piece attaching to the ink cartridge My typing became a total mess after I did that! In addition to the machine being great, the box and shipping box it came in were also in excellent condition. It is my recommendation that you use Its lightweight, compact size and ease of use make it ideal for travel.

The choice of a typewriter is limited these days
5/5

The typewriters I looked at were Brother, Nakajima, and restored vintage models. There are a lot of problems with the vintage units and the providers have serious Reviewers did not give the Brother unit high marks for reliability or good reviews. This is the Nakajima WPT It seems more logical to select the 150. Nakajima has been the OEM manufacturer for six years. Typewriter models from seven famous brands (Adler, Canon, Olympia, Swintec, Royal, Olivetti, Sears) have been discontinued in a market that is shrinking. In this case, Nakajima seemed the most likely choice. This is what the WPT has to offer The 150 turned out to be a good fit for our needs. In spite of its basic nature, it does much more than what a typewriter is supposed to do. In addition, with shipping at about $135, how much am I exposing myself to? In addition to labels, 3x5 cards, forms and typical typewriter functions, we also use it for labels. In other words, it will only see very light usage over time. I spoke with the service folks in NC on where to get ribbons and printwheels and what part numbers are available. The friendliness and technical expertise of their team really impressed me. The first few times we used the typewriter, we bought six ribbons, a package of correction tapes, and an Orator 10 print wheel.

Broken when it arrived
3/5

May your mothers' day be the most wonderful! My 80+ mother loves to correspond, but she has difficulty holding pens these days. I gave her this gift for Mother's Day. I was thrilled to hear that. I was shamed by my flower-wielding brothers. I shot the space bar across the room as soon as I pulled it out of the box. Since the little gear that turned the ribbon was broken, it would not advance. I laughed when I saw my flower-toting brothers. At a nearby office supply store I found the same thing, only the brand name was a much better-known name, and it cost twice as much, but it worked.

There are a lot of special characters in it, which are usable and can be read easily
4/5

I got this one because old Smith Corona had finally passed away. Choosing this typewriter as a replacement would be a wise decision. In the form of specific, clear, and explicit instructions, the reader is left feeling confident and empowered I discovered why the S. was so well packaged with cord, and I might add that it was well hidden. He passed away. did not unplug it after switching it off, but I did turn it off at the switch when my typewriter itself was off. The power switch on the typewriter appears to be a short-term device, and I ignored instructions regarding the lower case It is likely that A was burnt up. The converter) will not repeat this mistake. Having this one can handle what I need to type thick invoices to customers for my small(tiny) business, but it is business nonetheless, and I need it to look professional and the "150" gives it that. It's obvious that a typewriter has its own rhythm, and this one has soul - A few half-words The tone. There are a lot of special characters in it, which are usable and can be read easily. The software has so many useful features that I'm blown away by this price. This is an excellent purchase. Unplug all electronics before you sleep.

The typewriter is fantastic! The GX-440 is a fantastic machine
5/5

I bought it as a replacement for my old Brother GX-440 I'm so happy to find this one after 6750 (clumsy, a correction to that one was awkward). There are a few price differences, but the type is crisper, the action is easier and the correction is very simple.

The quality of this piece is terrible
3/5

My reputation for writing reviews is poor since I buy a lot of things on Amazon, but if I do, I have to review a really awful product. I don't think I've ever seen anything like this! I bought it as a gift for my college son, and it came with loose springs and keys all over it. There has also been a problem with the space key (also floating free). When I tried typing (without any spaces, of course) I found the type to be sporadic, non uniform, and of poor There are several times that I have called Nakajima and have not gotten an answer, you leave messages, and they never return my calls. Refund was eventually requested from Amazon after the customer gave up. It had no problem being sent back because they did it in the usual awesome way. I can assure you that it will be a foolish purchase. Amazon is awesome and fair, so make sure you buy from them!.

I have a typewriter that works perfectly! Having recently acquired an electric typewriter, I am in love with it
5/5

Due to the ease of use with my hands (I have arthritis), I am able to type as quickly as I used to. I needed the manual for the typewriter since it's been so long since I used one, and I wanted to use it to try my hand at writing again. It describes all of the parts and keys on the machine, which was exactly what I needed. The experience has been amazing and I am so glad I took the plunge.
