I'm pleased to report that this device, on its own, was able to overcome the language barrier and allow them to communicate with one another. My girlfriend's family in Spain wishes to pay us a visit. They only have a rudimentary understanding of the English language. So I bought this translator so that I could speak directly with them. OMG, I'm a huge fan of this voice translator! I just returned from a trip to France and came across this book on Amazon. I know there's a phone app for free translations, but this one is so much more user-friendly. This is something I bought for my 12-year-old daughter.
